Personal Grudges

Often, people on the D&D boards seem to develope personal grudges with one another for various reasons. These can feste for long periods, and derail other threads. Actually discussing these disagreements is frowned upon, as they are almost universally off topic for the forum that they occure in. If there was ever a forum where such conversations would not be off topic, it would probably be here. So, Come here to air out your personal disagreements!

(Atleast you wont derail other threads.)

I have a few. One with Turalisj, due to disagreements concerning Psionics, and one with HDI, due to a fight in the last edition war. Childish, yes, but still...

i have a grudge against the thai food place for not being open on mondays when we play 4th ed... it's all cool come wednesday for our 3rd ed game, but still... i want my Pad Thai!

is this too off topic for an off topic thread meant to stop on topic threads from going off topic?

I don't bother with online grudges. They're nothing more then an immature, uncivil, complete waste of time and energy. Seriously, someone wants to argue and hold grudge over something, say like the name of a race? Or the abilities of a power? Or insult one another just 'cause they disagree? You must be joking. How pathetic do you have to be to...

Actually, I change my mind. I hold a grudge against anyone who fits into that mold. The difference? I'm always polite, courteous, and I respect all opinions and ideas, even if their not my own and I completely disagree with them.

I don't hold grudges, but I do believe that at least a couple of individuals on these very forums are, in fact, mentally retarded without them having openly admitted it. This is just an observation.

There is one poster in particular that I have to keep on ignore because he is a constant baiter and troll. It would take too long to list all his names. Currently I have at least 7 of his names on ignore. He gets banned for a bit and just creates a new name so he can come back and do it all over again. People like him should just crawl under a moving bus.

Hey! I named names! Go bwock yourself.

I can only insult on a massive scale. It's kind of like being 1000 feet tall. You can smash cities and ruin nations, but something as simple as, say, hitting only the person you want to is basically impossible.

Totally worth it, though.

He used to a little. I think. Back when we could actually talk about non nonsensical stuff 'round here. Could be wrong.

And I included you because you didn't name enough names. Yeah. That or I didn't bother to actually read what you wrote because I felt more like saying what I said regardless of its validity. One o' them things.

I hold minor grudges against people who never say anything positive, ever, in any of their bajilliondy posts, but instead seem to spend their whole lives *****ing, moaning, and trying to make other people feel as miserable as they (obviously) do, rather than actually doing something about their problems, or offering helpful suggestions on what would help other people with their problems. These people generate immediate scorn from me, and are generally the only people I use sarcasm on.

I am somewhat new here, so I do not believe anyone holds any grudges against me.

I do not hold any grudges against anyone either.

I hope to keep both of those two points the same.

(Atleast you wont derail other threads.)

Grudges? Uh...

To be honest, I'm far too mellow to hold a grudge. There are some posters that when I see their posts I get this resigned look on my face before I read their drivel, but that's not really a grudge.

Uh... Oh, wait! I have a grudge against the moderators. Because their moderation style creates a chilling effect on free speech.

... but that's mostly because of my strong beliefs about freedom of expression and censorship, and nothing personal. Does it count as a grudge if it's not personal?

Personal grudges? Okay, I have a grudge against anyone that thinks this April's Fool stuff is funny. I personally am not amused when my posts are messed with. I have to admit I kinda' laughed when I saw it happen to someone else but that's because I thought that person was doing it on his/her own and had not been forced on them. I learned my lesson when it happened to me. So all in all, this stuff is not funny. Not one bit.

Interesting... because they added gre.en, sk.in, and the.me to the word filter list you can't currently alter your signature with those words inside it. I wonder if tomorrow people that already had them in their signature (like whoever it is that has the phrase 4e Gre.en Lantern) will have their signatures returned to normal, or have to fix them manually.

... what? I'm a programmer, I think about these things.

And yes, DirtyFrank, it's sad of course, but alas, a fact is still, in the end, a fact. And now all the remains, is the remains, of a perfect! double! ACT!

Yeah, I don't really have any grudges either. I had a single person on my ignore list a while back because of some things that happened in a thread, but about a week later I had forgotten why I was angry with him and took him off.

Now I can't even remember who it was. And I still can't remember why I was mad. Oh well. :D

As for this April Fools Day stuff... I consider it Eye Destroying. Although by now my eyes are but empty shells, so the colors don't burn as bad.

EscherEnigma

Apr 02, 2009 22:37:47
Nah, I don't really care. To be honest I was wondering why Shade hadn't swapped sooner... but our characters never met for Escher to question his motives.

Escher, on the other hand, would be a lot more skeptical, and ask some tough questions. And maybe lay about your head with six feet of stout wood.
#180

baneofelves

Apr 02, 2009 22:41:40
Eh, sorry. It just feels like everyone is piling up on me about this. It made no sense for the character to stick with 3E (IMO) which is why I did the swap. Think about it. He has no loyalty to 3E, they're just a tool to him. He has no real attachments to anyone there, making it easy for him to do this. His mother joined 4E, and his girl is also an imperial. Why would he fight the people that he loves for a cause he really doesn't care about?

Also, I fully expect you to pull out some druidic ass kicking on me. I'd be sad if you didn't.

What can I say? Having a fan bothers me. I never tried to portray the character as particularly 'bad ass', going for 'humble', 'wise', and 'mildly eccentric'. So having him be known for the fact that he was able to lay down righteous holy wrath is a bit... odd. It's like Devine being known for her role in the original Hairspray. She did a lot more then that, so being known for that is a bit... disingenuous? No, that doesn't quite fit...

/shrug
