Pick 2 movies for 5 bucks

Feb 17, 2011 19:30:17 Had this "special" deal at the local videostore, 2 old dvd movies for 5 bucks, mostly '80s movies.
I picked Alien Nation, Real Men, Legend and They Live.

What old classic or cheesy movies from the 80's would you recommend? There is a lot of stuff there and I might want to pick more based on suggestions.

Mad_Jack, I did not know about Ladyhawk (must have missed that one back then and at first I thought you were referring to Laserhawk (with Mark Hamill, the movie was shot in the small town where I was born). Is Ladyhawk any good? How does it compare to Legend for example?

Escef, I have everything on that list except some John Candy movies, I think I will look for Canadian Bacon and Uncle Buck, thanks for reminding me! (Already have Spaceballs of course).

Feb 18, 2011 14:39:16 A theater where I used to live would show older movies during the summer. I was able to catch Pulp Fiction and Spaceballs that way. It was awesome to see in a theater with people you knew were fans (why else would they be there?). Pre-gaming may have helped, too. ;)

Those events are great, I remember seeing my favorite childhood comic (Goldorak, or maybe you know him as Super Robot Grendizer, as the japanese name would go) at some of the earlier Fantasia movies specials. Basically the theater was loaded will old japanses cartoon and shows, like Ultraman and Godzilla for a few days. Watchin those movies with fans goes a long way in truly appreciating it.

Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer? Oh, and a rather young Mathew Broderick... It's an entirely different style of movie than Legend, more mature and not nearly as over-the-top magical, but still excellent for it's time. Definitely worth watching.
