Post something, huh?....Ok....need...something...to post...

...have I ever shown you something from my Dream Journal?

The dream begins with a cold and cheerless concrete alleyway. An old man (who I will call Old Man for the sake of identification) comes running anxiously around the corner. He reaches an open area and stops, uncertain of which way to head next. He begins to head towards one alley, but stops again as he sees another old man at the far end of the alley trip and fall over. Old Man watches, horrified, as the other old man scrambles backwards and holds a shaking hand up as if to ward away his antagonist.

The small figure of an impishly grinning child in a black robe approaches the terrified old man and reaches out with one of its own hands to touch the old man's. The old man stops shaking and gazes up at the child in a look almost of wonder. The child's other hand unheisitantly comes down and a wicked looking scythe cleanly separates the old man's head from his neck. The child smiles down the alleyway at the paralayzed Old Man, picks up the old man's head and drags the body by one leg out of view. Clearly it is too busy to be concerned with Old Man. Old Man gives a sob of horror and relief and runs up a slanted road away from the scene.

In the distance, a large building comes into view. Many old men are flocking to the building, running towards it from every direction. Old Man's heart sings with relief, but fear again as he sees the daylight is fading. He knows that if he does not reach the building before night, there is no hope. Indeed, Old Man is the very last of the old men to reach the grounds before the building. Old Man looks nervously from side to side. Standing beside him is a grinning child, different from the one before. Old Man dives beneath the scythe and it slices through the air where his neck just was. He tumbles through the closed doors of the building.

"Of course he could phase through walls. He's a ghost," my subconcious hastily explains to me, "All of the old men are ghosts, and they are being hunted to harvest materials for making more humans. You knew that all along."

Old Man sits in a large room with the other old men, all of them in desks, looking down at the podium at the front of the room where one old man is leading a debate on what should be done about the hunters. The room is dark, illuminated only by a projector which displays a series of test numbers on the opposite wall.

The ghost old men begin to argue.

"We should just stay here, they can't come in here"
"What? Forever?"
"Why not? They're the ones short on time"

Old Man feels tired all of a sudden. He looks around at his fellow ghosts. All of them are scared, sitting awkwardly in their seats. Perhaps it is that the influence of the environment affects the ghosts, for all of the old men are wearing the jerseys and uniforms they once wore to school as boys. The other ghosts continue arguing.

"There's too many already, but it's not our fault. We're not the ones who have been making more people all this time"
"Right, it's them that are selfish. Using all of their materials up. Why should we be the ones...?"

Old Man stands and starts to walk towards the door. All of the other old men break off arguing to stare up at him.

"Where do you think you're going? They're still out there." they say.
"I know," Old Man replies.
He walks through the door.

The first child Old Man saw is sitting on a nearby ledge, swinging its feet and idly tapping its scythe against the ground. It looks up in puzzlement at Old Man.
"Hello...I was scared earlier about some things, but it turns out it could be a lot worse," Old Man explains, "...it doesn't hurt?"
The child considers the question. It shrugs.
"Oh...well, okay."
The child smiles.
The scythe descends.

The children bring their cart of ghost parts down the street to a woman in a dark cloak like theirs. She glances over the ghost heads with disinterest, saying, "Oh, you did a good job." Something falls out of the cart as the two impish children leave. The woman picks it up, looks at it, and squeezes it until it turns into a dull dust which falls over a still figure on the ground.

The dream ends.
