Had the zord action figures from the first movie, actually.. sitting on a shelf in the sun forever has discoloured the White Ranger's bird zord. By the way, was it ever explained why Zordon was trapped in that giant tube? And I demand a fight-to-the-death between Alpha and Jar Jar Binks, NAAOOOW!!

Oh, and speaking of cereal, remember that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cereal? With the marshmallows and the ninja net pieces?

Starting in 1993, the japanese shows were stripped of their non-action footage and spliced with english language non-action footage to make the power ranger shows. Considering how cheap it is to make, I'd be surprised if it didn't last at least another 10 years in america.

Jan 08, 2009 4:01:39 I'm not so much into Power Rangers anymore, especially since I found the sweetness that is Super Sentai. The next series, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is supposed to start soon (or has already started), and it seems like worth watching, at least based on the setup (I'm more into the series with a fantasy or oriental theme than those with scifi or car theme).

It's also surprising that there appears to be an actual continuity between the series. Dino Thunder featured the original green ranger (Tommy?) and I've seen info that Rita is a good witch in Mystic Force. There was also an SPD/Dino Thunder crossover episode. Sadly, it retconned itself ;P

Last power rangers I watched was like the turn of the millenium or slightly before. They were in space, I think? Or their base was in space, but most of the fighting was on earth? Heck, I even have the megazord from that season and I have no idea of its particulars.

Hard to believe they're still making it.

Thats not saying the storyline or acting for PR was bad, but it's like taking a B movie from the early 90's and turning it into a tv series in the 21st century. Without changing the SFX.

It is good to see that some of the actors from the original PR moved on to bigger and better things. The second Black Ranger is now one of the most popular American anime VA's out there :D

The only thing that really disappoints me about the show is that all of the "theme" series makes seasons really off-and-on - for example, I enjoyed the "lost in space" series, but the "magic" series turned me off.

In Japan, most (if not all?) of the Super Sentai series have a clear theme. I actually skip every other show because the theme simply doesn't click for me. Skipped Dekaranger (SPD), watched Magiranger (Mystic Force), skipped Boukenger (Operation Overdrive), watched Gekiranger (Jungle Fury), skipped Go-Onger (RPM), watching Shinkenger. A clear pattern appears. Sciency show? Skip. Fantasyish show? Watch.
