How much does a set of vampire fangs (for example) go for? I work at a denture lab in Modesto, California, and we were brainstorming for ideas to generate a little extra income and I mentioned LARPing and the idea that creating custom fit vampire and werewolf teeth might be a worthy, if unorthodox, avenue to look down. We're already doing a set for Halloween for one of our dentists, and we've done other vampire cases in the past. Any info you can give would be appreciated.

I don't LARP, but I do own a set of 'custom fit' vampire teeth. They're nothing special, but they look great and stay on really, really well. You can even booze it up when you're wearin 'em. I bought them for a Haloween costume a few years ago. I think they set me back less than 20 bucks. They're plastic and use a plastic bead deal to custom form an attachment point on your teeth. Melt the plastic pellets in hot water, form 'em into a column, press one end into the hollow of the tooth and then fold the rest down at a 90 degree angle and press the tooth onto your canine and the rest of the stuff onto your molars or whatever. Let it set, trim of the extra crap and you've got re-usable fangs that look like they're actually teeth. They weren't too obnoxious to set up and they don't bother your mouth, either. I still have 'em somewhere ...

Ah, okay. Ours would be made of higher end materials since we do regular dentures, sometimes made of porcelain. I doubt we could beat 20 bucks, but they sure wouldn't be plastic, AND they'd be matched to the color of your natural teeth and gums. Thanks. It was at least worth looking at!

I'm sure the stuff you guys could come up with would be far superior. If the price was close (say, 30 bucks or so), I'd consider it if I were in the market. The ones I have are good, but better for a similar price is always a good thing.

Keep in mind, too, that there are people that would likely be more interested than I. For me, it was a costume accessory. For others, it's nearly a lifestyle. I think there'd be a market so long as the price wasn't insane.

I know a girl who got permanent fangs at the dentist. I bet that they were made in a similar way as when you fix a chipped tooth. I dont remember what she payed for them though. They looked very natural.
