How do you guys feel when you get quoted in a thread?

I feel flattered, whether the quoter agrees with me or not. The fact that I've been quoted indicates that I have made a significant enough contribution to be worth responding to or pointing out to others.

I'll make sure that I don't.

If I get quoted, I'm not sure if I should take it to mean I've said something very smart or said something very dumb.

..probably the former. IMAGE(http://www.rjmwhittaker.com/redneck.gif)

When I get quoted, I feel "All right, This dude (or dudette) noticed what I said and had a thought about it. Now I can engage them in conversation/debate/discussion/mindless fan-squealing/etc."

... What he said basically defines me as well. :D

Ridiculed.
But most of the time I'm quoted is because I'm either getting attacked, or my ideas are getting belittled....
usually... but not always...

oh, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, that is so ridiculous, I can't believe you're saying that.......DAMN! He's right!

(:P) Just messin wit' ya.

I usually feel a small bit of trepidation, until I find out why they quoted me...

It really depends on the topic of the thread, and what exactly I was saying.
If the last thing I posted was something I thought was incredibly hilarious and witty, I like to see that people appreciated my humor and were entertained...
If I was posting to give advice or my opinion about something, as Owls_and_More_Owls said, I like to see how the OP or other persons involved in the discussion responded to my comments.
If I'm debating a rules issue, usually my first response to being quoted is, "Oh sh**, did I screw it up?" lol :D I hate looking like an idiot because I typed this huge in-depth exposition about the issue and then find out I had it all bass-ackwards.

Overall, I most prefer to be quoted for saying something really witty. :D
I dunno why, but I'm inordinately pleased when something I say gets sigged by another forum member...

I feel as if I should probably read the response.

I feel worried, since I know the quoter is attempting to lull me into a false sense of security in order to break my legs (not figuratively). Which is partially why I, unlike the rest of you, don't use my real name for my forum username.

It sort of bugs me when someone responds to me (or another poster) directly without quoting them. It can be really confusing, especially if they got ninja'd, so it looks like they're responding to a completely unrelated post.

Just quote, people!

Oh, and I also dislike when people quote a multi-paragraph post, respond in one sentence to a single part of it (when it addressed multiple points) and then don't even bother to snip the stuff they're not responding too.

...You're all going to do these things to me intentionally now. I know how OTT works.

I know how OTT works.

How does it work? I've been trying to figure it out for quite some time now and I'm a regular.

As a matter of fact, I am going to try an experiment...

Is the experiment to see if someone would quote you, asking what the experiment was?
