Actually, I believe that is the plan for all those areas to have their own off-topic forums in time. RPG area got one right out of the gate as it is a new area.

Because, I imagine the plan is to do it based on activity. I agree some areas might not warranted an off-topic area, but on the other hand an off-topic area might help keep people in an area like RPGA. TS, I'm trying to figure out where you are going with this. You seem upset that some areas don't have off-topic forums and you also seem upset that some areas might have off-topic forums. Personally, I am quite indifferent to the issue. If an area has an off-topic forum it really doesn't hurt any other area and could help that area. This policy also preserves all the off-topic forums that existed before, but allows other areas to also have their off-topic forums. It also helps editorially speaking.

Perhaps it's my personal pride and bias, but I always thought The Rec Room was perfect. Having a single non-gaming forum such as TRR encouraged and allowed people from all walks of the boards to meet and interact with each other--I can tell you I wouldn't have met several of my pals had the Rec Room not existed. Giving every forum their own off-topic area would segregate the community, rather than bring it together.

#14 kjw Jun 12, 2008 10:41:11	I think that each area having an off-topic forum makes sense - but it depends upon how you define area. I find it a little ridiculous that this forum is here and just down the page is the Rec Room. It make no sense. Now a off-topic forum for true areas like Magic Online, D&D, and Gleemax does make sense as those are discrete areas. But Gaming Culture and the RPG Area are within spitting distance of each other and both are part of Gleemax. I feel that Gleemax only needs one off-topic area.
