| #1half_dragon_infernalSep 02, 2009 22:10:14 | Since it has been so long, and the group feature seems to be perfect for this, do you guys wanna restart the Edition Wars? Totally different setting most likely. |
| #2RUMPLESTIXSep 02, 2009 23:02:22 | We could all go to our groups and plan before raiding 4th edition general. Brilliant idea. Revive the edition war! /sarcasm Sorry, I couldn't pass that up. |
| #3pigknightSep 03, 2009 0:06:01 | Hmmm...maybe I can play a 3.5 awakened boar crusader? |
| #4bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 8:35:36 | I'm playing a 4.0 Earth Genasi Fighter,
ARE YOU READY TO RUMMMMBLE! |
| #5d11Sep 03, 2009 8:37:01 | Your name must be the Boulder, and you must use a Mick Foley voice when talking. |
| #6ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 8:39:16 | I'd be up for running it and designing the system if you guys want to. This way, Pig can avoid the burnout, and I know of a tool that would be just GREAT for this. |
| #7bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 8:43:40 | I'm unfamiliar with how we would actually take part in combat, so someone will have to explain. |
| #8bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 8:44:37 | Waitwaitwaitwait! If PK is playing as his persona, then I'm playing as mine, A halfling wizard/rogue |
| #9ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 8:46:16 |
That'll depend on who's designing the system, but basically, you select a location, fight the dudes there, and whoever wins takes the territory. |
| #10bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 8:49:15 | I mean do we use 4e or 3.5 rules?
and a location in Faerun or what? |
| #11ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 8:52:16 | Neither, it's not a PbP game. Or at least, not the kind you're thinking about. And it's not in FR. |
| #12bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 8:52:59 | oh.
|
| #13ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 9:17:34 | Here's an example of how the EW worked in earlier versions: Attacker attacks. Defender defends. Attacker uses Power Attack for a +1 bonus to attack rolls. Defender uses Shield, for a 1d4 bonus to defense. Attacker uses his ATK stat: 1d8. He rolls a 6. 6+1 = 7. Defender defends with his DEF stat. He rolls 1d10+1d4 and gets a 2 and 3. 2+3 = 5. Attacker wins and takes control of the location. |
| #14bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 9:24:53 | Ok, still a little confused. What system is this based off? |
| #15ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 9:30:47 | Our own. We use homebrewed systems. A more RPGesque system where level-ups become more important was designed but never put to the test, too. |
| #16bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 10:10:07 | Yikes, maybe I shouldn't play. I'd like to contribute however. |
| #17ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 10:12:58 | It's really not as hard as it sounds. It's a lot of fun TBH. As for contributing, I had an old system ready floating around in a thread. If there's no problem with me running it, I'll remake it, and I'd love some criticism for it. ;) |
| #18bo0kw0rmSep 03, 2009 10:16:13 | Alright cool.
What are we talking for lcoations.
Will different sections of this community be the locations, or will it be a home-made world or what? |
| #19ArmisaelSep 03, 2009 10:36:20 | We use made up locations for the most part. The previous EW's were run in a consistent world, but considering the last world was on the verge of getting nuked, I think we'll use a new set of locations this time. |
| #20half_dragon_infernalSep 03, 2009 23:21:38 | The idea of different parts of the forum would be funny though. Perhaps a combo? |
| #21ArmisaelSep 04, 2009 6:07:46 | That seems good enough. I assume there wouldn't be a problem with me running the show? If so, I plan on starting up a thread (and, if there is enough interest, a group) sometime in the weekend. Is that okay? |
| #22bo0kw0rmSep 04, 2009 10:07:54 | I think having the locations be forum sections be fun, like The Battle of the OTT Th Skirmish at Character Optimization The War at Astrid's Parlor lol.
Tell me if you need help, I'd be glad too! |
| #23The-Mage-KingSep 04, 2009 11:05:14 | I want in. Interestingly enough, thanks to a longweekend, I've made a small webcomic set around the mid point of the first war. Look for the thread 'Read this'. |
| #24ArmisaelSep 04, 2009 13:40:57 | 'Kay, I got a hold of the system I designed. Expect a recruitment thread up later today.;) |
| #25half_dragon_infernalSep 05, 2009 9:27:19 | Arms, it's the next day. Where is my thread? |
| #26The-Mage-KingSep 06, 2009 13:24:25 | Two days, now. Get on with it. Get on with it! |
| #27EscherEnigmaSep 06, 2009 15:33:28 | Be patient, ya guys. Getting everything ready to run ain't easy or quick, and no one likes feeling heckled. |
| #28half_dragon_infernalSep 06, 2009 15:39:25 | Something happened to arms, he has not done a single thing in the past two days. |
| #29ADHadhSep 06, 2009 16:48:36 | I did not take part in the previous one and I am not planning on joining now, so I couldn't care less. |
| #30half_dragon_infernalSep 06, 2009 19:06:41 | I made the group, here is the link. |
| #31ArmisaelSep 07, 2009 6:27:16 | Sorry for not putting the thread up, guys. Everything is pretty much ready, but a thunderbolt fell on my house and gave me the double whammy of electrocution and a dead comp. As you can guess, no comp = no internet access = no thread, but I'm hellbent on getting the thread up now that I have my workspace access available. The thread will go up either today or tomorrow, depending on how quickly I can polish the system. |
| #32bo0kw0rmSep 07, 2009 8:09:11 | I'll join the thread, I'm still interested. |
| #33bo0kw0rmSep 07, 2009 8:16:04 | I also posted an idea I had for the group photo, check it out if your interested. |
| #34Ragnar_LodbrokSep 07, 2009 8:19:32 | Awesome. The only reason I choose to subject myself to the shipping this time is the fact that the assassin's heroic tier comes out Friday, and the fact that I haven't had the chance to play D&D in a while (no group, and I typically DM, at any rate), so I don't really have any other option for RP. |
| #35ArmisaelSep 07, 2009 8:27:04 | Let's hope there's less of it this time. :P Anyway, I just need to polish the system a little bit more, make the terrains, and create the throwaway setting, and we'll be good to go. Shouldn't take long, just a couple hours, but I've learned not to give dates after Mr. Thunderbolt came by. |
| #36bo0kw0rmSep 07, 2009 9:17:23 | |
| #37half_dragon_infernalSep 07, 2009 9:43:07 | Hah, figures something catastrophic happened. I was leaning more towards the sick relative, but it's nice to know only a thunderbolt hit your house. |
