Since it has been so long, and the group feature seems to be perfect for this, do you guys wanna restart the Edition Wars? Totally different setting most likely.

We could all go to our groups and plan before raiding 4th edition general. Brilliant idea. Revive the edition war! /sarcasm

Sorry, I couldn't pass that up.

Hmmm...maybe I can play a 3.5 awakened boar crusader?

I'm playing a 4.0 Earth Genasi Fighter,

ARE YOU READY TO RUMMMMBLE!

Your name must be the Boulder, and you must use a Mick Foley voice when talking.

I'd be up for running it and designing the system if you guys want to. This way, Pig can avoid the burnout, and I know of a tool that would be just GREAT for this.

I'm unfamiliar with how we would actually take part in combat, so someone will have to explain.

Waitwaitwaitwait!

If PK is playing as his persona, then I'm playing as mine,

A halfling wizard/rogue

That'll depend on who's designing the system, but basically, you select a location, fight the dudes there, and whoever wins takes the territory.

I mean do we use 4e or 3.5 rules?

and a location in Faerun or what?

#11

Armisael

Sep 03, 2009 8:52:16

Neither, it's not a PbP game. Or at least, not the kind you're thinking about.

And it's not in FR.

oh.

Here's an example of how the EW worked in earlier versions:

Attacker attacks.

Defender defends.

Attacker uses Power Attack for a +1 bonus to attack rolls.

Defender uses Shield, for a 1d4 bonus to defense.

Attacker uses his ATK stat: 1d8. He rolls a 6. 6+1 = 7.

Defender defends with his DEF stat. He rolls 1d10+1d4 and gets a 2 and 3. 2+3 = 5.

Attacker wins and takes control of the location.

Ok, still a little confused. What system is this based off?

#15

Armisael

Sep 03, 2009 9:30:47

Our own. We use homebrewed systems. A more RPGesque system where level-ups become more important was designed but never put to the test, too.

Sep 03, 2009 10:10:07

Yikes, maybe I shouldn't play. I'd like to contribute however.

#17

Armisael

Sep 03, 2009 10:12:58

It's really not as hard as it sounds. It's a lot of fun TBH.

As for contributing, I had an old system ready floating around in a thread. If there's no problem with me running it, I'll remake it, and I'd love some criticism for it. ;)

Alright cool.

What are we talking for lcoations.

Will different sections of this community be the locations, or will it be a home-made world or what?

#19

Armisael

Sep 03, 2009 10:36:20

We use made up locations for the most part. The previous EW's were run in a consistent world, but considering the last world was on the verge of getting nuked, I think we'll use a new set of locations this time.

The idea of different parts of the forum would be funny though. Perhaps a combo?

#21

Armisael

That seems good enough. I assume there wouldn't be a problem with me running the show? If so, I plan on starting up a thread (and, if there is enough interest, a group) sometime in the weekend. Is that okay?

#22

bo0kw0rm

Sep 04, 2009 10:07:54

I think having the locations be forum sections be fun, like

The Battle of the OTT

Th Skirmish at Character Optimization

The War at Astrid's Parlor lol.

Tell me if you need help, I'd be glad too!

I want in.

Interestingly enough, thanks to a longweekend, I've made a small webcomic set around the mid point of the first war. Look for the thread 'Read this'.

'Kay, I got a hold of the system I designed. Expect a recruitment thread up later today.;)

Arms, it's the next day. Where is my thread?

Two days, now.

Get on with it.

Get on with it!

Be patient, ya guys.  Getting everything ready to run ain't easy or quick, and no one likes feeling heckled.

Something happened to arms, he has not done a single thing in the past two days.

I made the group, here is the link.

Sorry for not putting the thread up, guys. Everything is pretty much ready, but a thunderbolt fell on my house and gave me the double whammy of electrocution and a dead comp. As you can guess, no comp = no internet access = no thread, but I'm hellbent on getting the thread up now that I have my workspace access available. The thread will go up either today or tomorrow, depending on how quickly I can polish the system.

#32

bo0kw0rm

Sep 07, 2009 8:09:11

I'll join the thread, I'm still interested.

#33

I also posted an idea I had for the group photo, check it out if your interested.

#34

Awesome.

The only reason I choose to subject myself to the shipping this time is the fact that the assassin's heroic tier comes out Friday, and the fact that I haven't had the chance to play D&D in a while (no group, and I typically DM, at any rate), so I don't really have any other option for RP.

#35

Armisael

Sep 07, 2009 8:27:04

Let's hope there's less of it this time. :P

Anyway, I just need to polish the system a little bit more, make the terrains, and create the throwaway setting, and we'll be good to go. Shouldn't take long, just a couple hours, but I've learned not to give dates after Mr. Thunderbolt came by.

Hah, figures something catastrophic happened. I was leaning more towards the sick relative, but it's nice to know only a thunderbolt hit your house.
