| #1Robin_HoodlumApr 24, 2012 20:18:40 | We ordered this game within 5 minutes of watching this review... Anybody have any experience with this version of Risk? We just discovered it... and we already know what we are going to be playing for the next month or so... |

With lot of people I know into Game on Thrones, I was thinking about getting a board game. They have a risk type one, as well as a battle game...apparently similar to Memoir '44. |
| #7WebsterApr 29, 2012 4:21:11 | I have it and it's fantastic. This from someone who hates Risk. (Risk isn't bad, it just takes forever to end. Which is why I like Legacy since the victory condition is to get 4 "Stars". You base counts as one, and if you've never won a game, you get a second "Star"; halfway to winning.) There are a few ways to get these stars, and more "hidden" ways that I haven't seen yet. One way is to capture other people's bases. A second is turning in territory cards. We've already opened on packet, and after our next game we'll most likely open a second. When you do get it, Robin, don't be afraid to rip up cards. That's part of the game. Each army has a special ability. You get to choose between to abilities, and put ability sticker on the army's card. Then you rip the remaining ability, and toss it. I also like that the rules in the rulebook themselves get stickers and get changed as well. The rewards are pretty neat. Start a major city which only YOU can start from is a lot of fun as is naming a continent for the bonus. There are other benifits for winning. (None of these are spoilers, and if you've seen the video, it's probably already mentioned it.) If you win you also sign the board. Each game after that, you get one "missile" for each time your name appears on the board. You can turn in a missile at any time (even not on your turn) to change ANY single die roll to a 6. I turned a loss for myself into a win by changing one die. You don't even have to be involved in the combat to change the die. Part of the strategy isn't just to think about what you're doing THIS game, but what will happen in future games. Sure, you could put that scar sticker down, but all future games will be impacted. That +1 army sticker sounds great, but you might not control that continent in a future game. As the warning label says, What's been done can't be undone. Oh, and be sure to look under the tray for the "Do not open. Ever" packet. ;) |
| #8Robin_HoodlumApr 30, 2012 23:45:54 | Yeah well... Played two games tonight. First game I was kickin' butt! Then... *bad and vulgar language towards Dustin, specifically* Lost the first game, but stayed in untill the end. Second game, I was out first. ... Those that "know" me, know I didn't take the defeat lightly... ![]() |
| #9pigknightMay 01, 2012 19:19:51 | And here I was thinking you were an evil mastermind. |
| #10homicidal_squirrelMay 01, 2012 19:31:00 | You got the evil part right. ![]() |

| #12Robin_HoodlumMay 02, 2012 9:41:51 | Stoopid work and family resposibility! If it weren't for those, I could play Risk:Legacy every day! I got to place and name a minor city after the first game. I put it in Argentina (my usual starting position) and named it New Johnstown... cuz my first name is Town... The second game I was first out, so no city placing/ naming for me. All I get for being the biggest loser is an extra special ability for my faction (which is Imperial Balkania), which isn't a bad thing. The game is designed to make it harder for the winner to win next game. If anybody likes Risk, I suggest picking this version up. It is the best ever. |

I agree! And if you hate Risk you should pick it up. It's better than regular Risk. Every review I've seen of the game started with "I hate Risk", but the reviewer loves Risk: Legacy. So far I've won two games, my wife's won one. |
