| #2zombie_babiesJul 29, 2010 14:52:49 | Aww, that sucks man. Had it happen to a few friends when they first came out. Thought the PS3 was better but a pal lost his, had it replaced and had the replacement die literally the next day. Sad stuff. |
| #3scypioJul 29, 2010 14:57:30 | It happened to me. If its under warranty (I don't know how long it lasts), they'll fix it. If not, it costs like $100 or something. If you pay for them to fix it, you get a new warranty so you're protected for another year or two if it were to happen again. It actually is surprisingly fast for them to fix. (The whole thing took less than two weeks including shipping to and from.) It sucks though. |
| #4boraxeJul 29, 2010 15:01:48 | The warranty on RROD is three years, so Microsoft is picking up the tab. I must admit I'm impressed, they even cover all the shipping charges. My watch broke after only a few months and the company want me to pay to ship it to them and cover the return shipping. WTF? Boxing it up tonight and off to UPS on the morrow. |
| #5zombie_babiesJul 29, 2010 15:23:52 | Well now, that ain't so bad. At least they take care of ya. |
| #6boraxeJul 29, 2010 15:40:26 | Well now, that ain't so bad. At least they take care of ya. I had a good experience with Sony, too. My PS2 died (not surprising considering how much I used it - curse you, GTA3!) but it was a couple of years past it's warranty date. Despite that they replaced it free-of-charge and covered the shipping both ways as well. |
| #7zombie_babiesJul 29, 2010 15:48:44 | Wow. That's customer service. Man, you just don't see that very often. |
| #8modern_iconoclastJul 29, 2010 17:22:56 | I'm glad those companies have good customer support. In my case, you can add Nintendo. Kid broke his DS by slamming the game the wrong side, took pliers to remove it. On top of that I only had a copy of the receipt as I lost my wallet and the original. Tha lady told me to pack it up with a UPS code and they sent me a refurb at no charge. It's sad to lose your gaming machine for a few days, but it's cool that some companies have good customer support. They earn my loyalty and I keep buying their products. |
| #9oxybeJul 29, 2010 20:05:07 | i've never had a system break down on me the closest i've been is my physically broken, previously used 1st gen DS and it's crappy battery life (which i could solve by buying a new battery, though there aren't any sold nearby, either at a used game store or the local EBgames. thankfuly i was due for a new DS so i got the DSi XL. very nice product). however, i did experience my roommate's PS3 die firsthand and how Sony replaced it with good speed. |
