Jan 29, 2009 9:27:58 i dunno. i was a sticker-peeler and considered it solved in the same fashion the gordian knot was solved. it might not be the "proper" way, but the end result involved having all 6 sides with appropriate colors.

I'm stuck with my 3D cube (you now ... X,Y,Z ) ... perhaps if I write a matrix-based program, I could create a program for a 4D rubik hypercube ...

Yes, four-dimensional like that. ;)

We found it hard to believe but then he solved a normal Rubik's Cube in front of us in less then a minute. I think it was 36 seconds after the first try to "loosen up his brain".

yep. the trick is knowing how to solve 'm :D

basically:
While the cube is not solved, analyse the position of certain pieces ; then apply the correct sequence of moves.

How come you only solved it last year? Did you not try it until then or did it take you a long time?

Jan 31, 2009 15:53:20 I, too, took a Gordian approach on my only cube. While I didn't peel off the stickers, I still 'solved' it. What I did was I ripped the blocks themselves off of the center, then put them back together solved :p

Feb 02, 2009 16:12:16 I know some people that get frustrated with me because I'll solve it will talking to them, which means I'm not really paying any attention to the cube. My lack of attention to the cube only slows me down a few seconds if at all.

Feb 02, 2009 16:28:29 The real solution to a Rubik's puzzle is in figuring out how the surfaces interact. Once you have that down pat, actually twisting the thing into solution is just meat-movement.

For instance, the first part of the solution is in figuring out that the center piece of each face never moves - therefore whatever the color of the center piece is the correct color of that side.
