#10 SteelMirror Oct 23, 2008 19:09:56	As a mildly related sidenote, I've always considered vikings to be much cooler than ninjas or pirates, both of whom they dispatch with relative ease. I've been scouring the universe for worthy opponents (other than the Frost Giants of Niflheim) and I have so far found only one worthy contender: Cowboys. Agree or disagree? I'm just saying that it would be totally bad**s if every morning in Asgard, a Viking disentangled himself from the three wenches he had been entertaining the night before, took a hearty swill of mead, and went off to do endless battle against Clint Eastwood and Kurt Russell (as Watt Earp).

My grandfather came from Sweden and he has his grandfathers toolbox which is solid wood. My father is a carpenter and his father and his father and so on. So if I have any viking ancestors, they probably were builders too.

Norwegians, Swedes, Danes and Icelanders possess the inherent capacity for building decks. Finns don't, but they can survive temperatures exeeding 390°F, which is arguably more useful. You grandfather probably built many decks using that toolbox.

It seems those who were looking for Religious/Political threads did not look closely enough at the OP to realize that the Norse Mythology side of the debate was portrayed as a mocking parody of strict creationist arguments. They had a lot of threads to close. How they actually missed the McCain thread I pulled up is beyond me. Then again, in that case, they may have been of a like mind with my response to it and just not bothered.
