I think that some of the security measures currently in place have unfortunately become necessary, but it does not mean that customer service has to be thrown out the window.  Even the airlines that used to have impeccable customer service are now sorely lacking.  Some of the attendants on my last few flights were just awful, even in first class.  I think people genuinely fear to complain in person, and complaints after the fact are disregarded.

If you'll notice, it was the same airline that threw off the UNM football player for lookin' like a fool with his pants on the ground.

You mean the one that didn't kick the man in women's panties off?

Also this appears to be a bad employee crying wolf because they didn't want to get in trouble for being a bad employee.

The same.  But it WAS in SF that Ms. Mann went through, so that's to be expected.

My wife saw him at the pheonix airport on his way to Florida.

I've not been hassled by these people, at least not as much as others.  It could be my physical size, or my demeanor.  I don't go swaggering into an airport, flipping off the TSA goons and goonettes; point of fact is, I'm polite to them and comply with what they ask of me, within reason.  Snapping on the latex gloves, though.......

I've had some slight issues with them, nothing too serious, I just needed to wade through several levels of stupidity before I found a supervisor that was willing to let me on the plane with explosive residue on my computer (this after I provided several means of proof showing them that my day to day job involved handling explosives, each supervisor was afraid to make the call and ended up calling his boss, and each time my stuff was x-rayed, swabbed, and I got asked the same round of questions).

Its not just the Airports. If you take pictures or video of any enforcement people doing their jobs, they will harass you. Police, TSA, FBI, security guards, whatever. They all come after you with a vengeance. The good news is that some bills are going in to congress to disband the TSA and get those radiation machines out of the airports. I can see not wanting your department to look bad, but people need accountability and those who enforce the rules have none...

I'm curious... did anyone say anything when you took off your kilt?

The TSA guy was just happy that he didn't have to call someone over for the whatever procedure (it's a pain for them as well) and all the other passengers trying to get through security were too busy with their own deal.

My SO didn't even notice I was sans-kilt until I grabbed it off the conveyor belt to put it back on.

True Scots don't wear boxers under their kilts!  Still would have avoided the pat-down, too.

Getting escorted out of the airport by police for exposing myself may avoid a pat-down, but it doesn't do much for getting me on a plane.

If you use a smartphone/iPod camera, and you have a wifi/3G/4G connection, you might be able to send the pics/video to an email addy/social networking site before they confiscate it.  Have your friends post the pics/video far and wide; let the hilarity ensue.

People get arrested for doing that (video recording) nowadays... They lump it under "Obstruction of Justice" instead of "Making them do their job right"

From my little experience with them, I have to say I prefer the scanners.  Out of the airports I visited on my trip, the only one that even gave the impression of efficiency was the one in Cleveland.  The one with the scanner.  The rest?  Long lines of people waiting to go through a metal detector.  And they'd do smart stuff like have four bag conveyors but only two metal detectors, too.  In an international airport.  And I was frisked pretty much every time, too.  Once cuz I forgot to take my belt off but the rest were cuz of the metal button on my jeans.  Honestly.  So it certainly wasn't any faster without the scanner.  My experience, though, could also have been a function of the time of day I was there.  I dunno.  Don't fly often at all.

I'll tell you what, next time you go through the scanner wear one of those radiation litmus test things and see what kind of levels you are exposed to. I mean the people who operate those machines have a much higher chance of cancer.

Meh, I drink, I smoke cigars on occasion (used to smoke, too), I've been out in the sun 'til I burnt, etc.  I think the scanners are the least of my concern.

That must be one big ass button!  I have an 8-inch metal plate & 10 screws in my arm and I've never set off the meatl detectors.  Since I got it, I've been through Orange County, St. Louis, and Kansas City.

Just a standard size button.  I've had it set off the detectors at work, too.  It didn't set every detector off but it did get most.  It's really friggin' annoying, too.  These detectors were in Montreal and Athens.  It may be because it's outside the body, I dunno.  All I know is that I had nothing on me that could have set it off aside from that - as verified via the pat downs, heh.  So unless I had some fairly massive surgery I'm forgettin' about, it's the only thing that could have.  I mean, unless the aliens got me an' filled me full of whatever it is they put in people.  I suppose that would explain it, too.  Maybe I oughtta get an MRI or somethin'.

Yeah, those are nothing compared to the radiation these machines put out. It was so bad that they had to fake test papers to get them legalized...

So some TSA agents have cancer and its immediately a cover up due to brand new machines? Usually cancer risks from radiation mean you'll get it years down the road. The fact that these are current cases tells me it probably had nothing to do with those machines. Personally, I'm not concerned about them and I support their use. Don't like it? Fine, don't fly. The public wants to be safe, but they don't want pat downs and they don't want to be scanned. So how exactly do you propose that they make this work?

Someone lied to you. They charged you for a metal plate & 10 screws, but instead gave you some cheap Chinese knock-off (probably cheap plastic).

Seriously though... how is ZB getting felt up while you just walk on through? Maybe they just felt like molesting ZB.

If you thought people were angry when TSA agents were patting down children, wait until they ask them to strip.

It's a surprisingly elegant solution though.  All you have to get over is that little "no nudity" taboo...

Well, except for the fact that people don't like to be inconvenienced.  Ya gotta strip to get nude or ya gotta just be nude which means ya got nowhere to put stuff.  Maybe in nice weather it'd work, but once ya start askin' people to do stuff they typically refuse.  Takin' off clothes counts.  But it would be nice to get over the nudity thing.  I mean, it's our friggin' natural state.
