I keep hearing about how these breakthrus in energy producing technologies, like soloar, geothermal, and even electricity being produced by the moving of the tides, but yet im still paying an arm and a leg for power, what the hell? Oh, excuse me, i need to go get some arms and leggs.

Nationalizing it doesn't guarantee lower cost.  What it does guarantee is no competition to force a lower cost if at any point the cost rises.  That's what competition is supposed to do.  Of course, with price fixing and the like it doesn't actually happen, but ...

Meh, it's all trust.  I choose to trust no one.  Competition can work and it has also been shown to fail.  Nationalization can work and has also been shown to fail.  Pick your poison, more or less.  In a modern, successful country, though, I suppose it could be argued that you'd actually be safer with nationalized stuff.
