How many of you love shopping? I do! But then... I'm a typical girl and shopping is a fun past time and I still enjoy it. The other day I went out to find snow boots because it snows where I am. My feet hate snow boots so despite loving to shop I hate snow boot shopping since over the years I'd leave the mall empty-handed. This time I actually found a pair and for a great price compared to some places! I found a pair at Sears for $45! I'm glad at least ONE pair fit. Yup, I tried on dozens of boots and ONE fit. One store offered to order a pair for me and I'm thinking... how will I know if it fits, lol. The first store in my mall that is by where my friend and I parked is Journey's. I went in and a pair of boots where $249 Surprised Who pays that? That's absolutely INSANE. I love spending money as the next girl but honestly getting more for it is awesome! My old boots were $20 and by no means were they snow boots but they served as them since well.... i couldn't find any, lol. As I was shopping I'd leave trails of pleather from my old ones....

Of course, I don't mind spending a lot if its actually needed. Like, my boyfriend had to spend a lot on steel toe work boots because well a bad pair could be disasterous.

There are plenty of boots you could get for a decent price. The real question is, what are you looking for in a boot? Would you be interested in elf shoes? They have several types that can work well for cold weather. Or you can go for these. If I was a girlie, I'd go for these.

So, you are sexist?
Being a "typical" girl automatically means one likes to shop and thinks shopping is fun?

Do you have any idea how offensive and degrading that is to women?

So, you are saying that if a girl doesn't like to shop, she is atypical.

Thanks for generalizing and stereotyping women.

You'll have to excuse RH, he is our resident transgendered member. New gets very upset when you post comments that can be seen as sexist against women. He wants to be a woman, but he hasn't been able to figure out a way to get the government to pay for his transformation treatment.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that. Its just that out of the billion girls I know I only know of two that do not enjoy shopping. There is nothing wrong with a girl who doesn't enjoy the gender-stereotyped thing that girls do.

I do have more than one pair. Techncally I have three. One is my old pair that I'm trying to throw away but they mean too much to me, the other replaced the old ones but they are too dressy to be snow boots and my new ones are for snow wear. I have other shoes as well but not as many as a lot of other girls I know. Boot shopping is a nightmare so I probably won't look for more until its needed again. I love sandal shopping because they don't take forever to find a nice pair!

The issue here isn't some purposefully chosen offense on my end, it's your inexplicable assumption that anyone here would know how you talk.  I mean, you know how you talk but is it fair to assume the same of us?  I say no.  It was reckless and now we're here because of it.

Ummm... Doesn't want RH and doesn't want toe boots. Sounds promising.

Xlady, what is your taste in alcohol?

Apple Pucker, Rum, and I'll mix with Whiskey sometimes. No fruit punch flavors/mixed fruit or sprite/mountian dew/7up products in any mixed drinks since that gives me headaches terribly for some reason. I also cannot buy alcohol already flavored with that so no wines, vodkas, etc with those flavors either. My favorite drinks are Apple **** and Rum in Coke. I don't drink often though.

Something about this reminds me of a Bad Santa quote (or two).

Pucker is flavoring.  You're not really supposed to just drink it (though I have ... when I was under 21 and uneducated about alcohol).

Why do you like rum?  I never could get into it.  Like, a rum and Coke is ok, right?  Crown and Coke is vastly superior, though, so I never saw the point in the rum.  Plus it's so full of sugar it's basically a hangover waiting to happen.  Try some whiskeys, bourbons and scotches.  There's about three of us here that could suggest some if you'd like - and gave us some insight as to what you like in a liquor ... though there may be a charge.

Lol, I mix Apple Pucker. I do not drink it straight. I make Apple Sluts with it and subsititute the Sprite for Ginger Ale since I cannot drink Sprite. I love Rum in Coke. I've had Whiskeys and Bourbons (though I do not remember the names, haha) but I've never been much of a fan except there's this cherry one I liked... I think some Red Label though. I didn't like the black cherry one. I find rum just better tasting... I love that its sugary! Oh on new year's my friend has corn whiskey and that was pretty good. It didn't have a brand though... just called Corn Whiskey.

Hmm ... reading this tells me a few things:

1) It's somewhat strange that you like that rum is sugary when you've complained about drinking induced headaches.  Those come from the sugar (er, and, you know, the poison ).  But if it works for ya, great.

2) The whiskey you liked isn't exactly whiskey.  It's flavored whiskey ... and that's what we like to call a tragedy.  See, vodka is flavored all the time but that's because vodka tastes terrible and needs to be flavored to hide what it is.  Whiskey doesn't so, when you see a flavored one, you know something is very wrong. ;)  Oh, and I believe what you had was Red Stag - in case you'd like to find it again sometime.

3) You've never actually had whiskey, apparently.  That's ok cuz most people haven't.  There's sweet bourbons and whiskey's, too, so if you're into rum, in part, because of its sweetness you may find there's some bourbon out there you'd like, too.  This stuff ain't for mixin', though.  Rocks or neat is the way to go - and when I say neat I don't mean as a shot.  Sippin' stuff like it should be.

You seem to prefer cocktails, though, and that's fine.  If you need it mixed, there's a type of whiskey that's for you: Canadian.  See, Canadian whiskey is known for its mixability.  It's very, very mild (which also makes it pretty ok to drink neat - though I personally prefer something a bit more substantial like Jameson's) and that allows a lot of it to sort of fade into the background.  It'll still flavor the mix but it's not overpowering.  Stuff like Crown Royal, Canadian Club or even Windsor work well.  The latter two are sorta 'meh' but they're also cheaper.  Since you're a fan of ginger ale (way better than Sprite IMO, too) you could start with an ol' school drink called a highball.  Simply put ginger ale, whiskey and ice together in a glass and enjoy.  Since you're a gal and you like the sweeter stuff, add a maraschino cherry as garnish (and a nice treat once the drink is gone).  I think you'll enjoy it.

That's the weird thing about the headaches- they can't be from sugar. I eat candy, chocolate and lots of sweets as well as drink teas with LOTS of sugar in it. Its just certain drinks that must have some flavoring or dye in it that induce the headaches. Sprite, Mtn Dew, 7ups and Fruity Punches are what I noticed that give it. I also can't have Pepsi Max either but that's from the amount of caffiene in it and that causes my heart race so no energy drinks either!

No, I've had Whiskey before other than the ones I mentioned I liked, lol. I just didn't mention them because I didn't enjoy them. My boyfriend has bought a lot if it before or gotten it as gifts. Like Jack Daniel's, American Honey and idk what else. I generally don't drink a lot, honestly.

Lol, can you even get Canadian Whiskey in the US. I don't live in Canada...

Sugar in alcohol can lead to headaches and terrible hangovers.  It's sort of a combo thingy.

No, you haven't.  Jack Daniel's isn't whiskey and Jack Daniels honey isn't even Jack Daniel's.  ;)  That's what I meant when I said most people haven't had it.  Have you had something even on the level of Jameson's?  What about some ok-ish bourbons like Maker's Mark and Knob Creek?  If you haven't, you've yet to try whiskey.  JD, JB, etc are gabage.  Utter crap.  They simply don't count.  It's like comparing Natty Light to St Bernardus - impossible because one is actually what it's supposed to be and the other is only allowed to be called it because of a legion of tastebudless genetic rejects.  ;)

Lol, can you even get Canadian Whiskey in the US. I don't live in Canada...

Umm ... of course you can.  We import stuff all the time.  It's, uhh, kinda how a global marketplace works.  Candian whiskey is called that for legal reasons.  In order to be a Candian whiskey it must be produced in a specific way and, you know, be made in Canada.  Sorta like how scotch can only be made in Scotland if you want to call it scotch.  The Japanese make scotch, too, but the can't call it that.  Anyhoo, of course you can get it here.  You can buy a BMW in America, can't you?

Meh, I've arrived at my opinion based on experience.  And I see you simply don't see.  If something is inferior it doesn't really represent what it claims to.  If it did, it wouldn't be inferior.  ;)

Why buy only the cheap stuff?  I'll never understand the people that buy stuff cuz it's cheap.  Why do you drink?  Is it to get drunk?  I mean, drinking problems aside there's no reason to suffer through cheap, garbage booze.  Life's too short.

Sugar headaches are common. Maybe she just has problems with the corn syrup and doesn't know it.

I dunno ZB why do people buy cheap anything? They buy cheap cars and then go "I don't get it" when someone that loves their car describes the car or talks about it.  I suspect people buy cheap booze because they don't know better.   Just like people that buy boring mid size sedans.

Good point.

Of course.  I mean, I made it.

a) Haha, that wouldn't surprise me. I assume its a dye or something they put in those particular drinks. I can drink all sorts of stuff, including stuff with corn syrup without issue. Its something that those drinks have in common that is not in other soft drinks or other drinks like lemonade, pink lemonade, tea (unless it is fruit punch/mixed fruit flavoring- anything merely flavored with that is off limits), coke, cherry coke, diet cokes (ewww), pepsi, cherry pepsi, and ginger ale are all fine.

b)That's your experience. Some people like it though.

c) I don't know. It tastes just fine to me, honestly. I don't think all the 'cheap stuff' is always that cheap. Some of that is like $25 a bottle.... haha.
Sometimes my friends and I drink to get drunk and sometimes its just to sit around and BS. It doesn't happen often though. There's no reason for us to spend loads of money on stuff we'll use a little bit of once and then leave under the bar for a long time, haha. Now if someone else besides me buys some really good stuff I might try it, LOL.

It's true that Jack Daniels is terrible though.

dood, this Westerner has had all sorts of vodkas including top shelf stuff from your own backyard.  I've had Kamchatka, Smirnoff, Stolichnaya, Absolut (several varieties), Three Olives (several), Skyy, Grey Goose (several), Turi, Ketel One, Belvedere and several of those stupid whipped vodkas.  How many brands have you sampled, oh wise one?

Hmm, maybe it's mental?

The people that like bad booze are either drunks or just don't know any better.  People get stuck in booze ruts pretty easily.  It's one of my jobs to try and help these poor lost souls.  HS and I hope to open a clinic sometime soon.

If it's going to last you a long time, why not spend money on it?  It'll be there waiting.  It's not like whiskey suffers for sitting idle.  Look at it like this: you're a liquor tourist.  Try new things, explore.  Now if you were a regular tourist on a trip somewhere, would you stay at some flea bag motel and only eat at McDonald's?  No.  Booze is to be enjoyed and experienced.  Trust me, you'll enjoy drinking for drinking when you drink the right stuff.

I don't think its mental. Just one day when I was young I got headaches from those drinks but never realized that's what it was from. I stopped drinking them and they went away.

Listing off brands doesn't mean you know how to drink vodka.
I don't remember all the brands I've tried (though to be honest I like various homemade products more).
I've had to google that whipped thing... Just when someone tells me to respect the French...

But it does show that I've given the garbage more than a fair shake.  And yeah, that whipped stuff is abominable ... even for vodka.

Of that list you provided, only one of them is even really vodka. (ketel one) Seriously? You listed smirnoff with a straight face?

That's like saying JD is bourbon, or even potable for that matter.

What is wrong with you?

Wait, you drink beer. Nevermind ;)

I see all that vodka and sweet tea has completely eroded your reading comprehension center.    I said those were brands I've tried, not brands I consider top shelf.  The top shelf from Poland is Belvedere and, as far as vodka goes, it's pretty ok ... cuz it's nearly tasteless.

What are you talkin about. It cleans the corrosion out.

Did you not read the vodka thread HS made?

Umm ... I don't rightly recall.  Whiskey seems to be pretty good at cleaning the corrosion out of the ol' brain, too ... though it doesn't seem to know where to stop cleanin'.

Nah, that stuff's too weak to do any damage.  You need Irish whiskey or bourbon or scotch to do that.

You could try Debowa, that's good.
And if you really need a flavoured one, go for Krupnik or a Bison/Wisent.
