to say i'm a "sound sleeper" is akin to calling a mother bear "slightly protective" of her cubs. i've been tested for sleep disorders and had blood tests done but to no avail.

to give an idea of how loud & soundly i sleep, i can be heard in the living room over the TV... which is a closed door and 2 rooms away. as for how soundly i sleep i missed this week's session of 3.5 after taking a prolongued "nap" (turned out i was asleep for 8 hours), and my roommates (one is a player, the other the GM of the game) failed to wake me up by repeatedly slamming my room door and calling for me. other players didn't show and they canceled that session.

anyone have an idea on something i can do? no one's really complained on it though when asked it's always the same answer: sleeping like a log & loud like a chainsaw.

Have you seen a sleep specialist? Maybe get a second opinion? While obviously this is not the same as your disorder, it took years for my wife to get diagnosed with sleep apnea. Even though she had the symptoms, doctors pretty much ignored her because they considered her too young to be at risk for it. There might be something pretty obvious that just happens to be rare within your demographic. A different doctor might catch it.

yeah, i went to a specialist. it was the doctor who administered the blood tests is the one that recommended i get tested for sleep disorders and wrote me down a sllp to get tested. i had that funky sleep gear for the night that mesured my heartbeat & breathing.

I've slept through many, many earthquakes. It's a Californian thing.

I've slept through mortar fire, but I've never had a problem waking up when someone was actively trying to wake me. My daughter up until this past year used to sleep like the dead though. You could yell at her, pick her up, shake her, nothing woke her unless you actually stood her on her feet, and then she would end up in the half sleep daze just barely alert enough to not fall over, then would lay down and go back to sleep.

I wish I could sleep like that - well, minus the snoring.  I have difficulty falling asleep and difficulty staying asleep.  It's ... not a fun way to live.

As an insomniac that takes two or three hours to fall asleep and then wakes up after only five or so, I think you're cheating.
