So I don't really care if it is a PC or a Mac. I can get Office and the statistical programs for either. I'll be getting it at Bestbuy because, well, I'm lazy, and I don't want to look for any other store to go to. I have one fairly close by, and it would make it much easier for me to just go there and get it.

I did. They have no clue what SPSS, SAS, and R are. One of them was trying to sell me a Sony Vaio that seemed to be set up for gaming and video editing or something, for liky $1K.
It's not like you need anything specific or super performant. And your thinking of keeping it for what, two years maybe? Computers on the market today will serve that purpose for you. So it really a question of price.
Maybe battery life is a concern and you should ask the guy about that.
Battery life and weight. I want something light weight. I'm going to be carrying it around along with books and other materials I'll be using.
I'd send it to you, but I have car tuning software loaded up on it that I use enough to justify having the laptop
And if it can't do the video stuff you want? Well, if it's that rare, you can just suck it up and go down to the computer lab.

Yeah 128 GB. that was my main concern. It's a solid state hard drive, though. I notice that solid state drives are nowhere near are large as regular hard drives. The largest I'm finding is around 512 GB, and it's on either the Macbook Pro or high-end PC laptops that aren't as light as I'd like.

Solid state is all about speed, not storage, brah. But you've already solved your problem (sorta):
It seems that you can get a 1 TB SSD. It's an enternal drive and a little expesive, but it's a TB.
Yup, massive external storage is available and can be found cheap. My friend is building a desktop and will be going solid state with a backup hard drive for storage. The idea is you put the stuff you use the most (for him it'll be the current favored game ... and porn) on the SS drive for fast access and the other stuff on your non SS drive. Yeah, you don't need to purchase an external solid state. No point in it, really, so you can likely save some money there.

Probably a I3, but an I5 if it's not more then an extra $50. No need to spring for an I7. Even with heavy statistics modern CPU's are overkill. AMD isn't bad if you find a deal, but intell's winning with their latest batch.
4 gigs of ram minimum, but I'd go for 6.
SSD hard drives are awesome, if you don't need the space. They are about 10x the speed of a normal hard drive, but 1/10th the price. (~ 100 gig vs 1 terabyte). What you have listed would probably only be 50gig (including the OS). However, if you later decide to do something like download and watch movies, you'll want the terabyte. But you could also grab an external.
