I just got into the Virtual Table beta and was wondering if any of the other OTTers did, as well.  Maybe we can all "test" it out together!

It is still in playtesting mode. You need a special invite to get in the few "tables" they have. I think you can write them to maybe get invited, but you can only play with other invited guests.

Wow, try reading my post again, if you even did the first time.  Go ahead, I'll wait.

Only 10$ a month to test a system still in Beta. Why say no?

Because I spend all my monies of MTG. W/B Infect FTW!

Priests of Norn for attack/defence goodies and Condemn's life gain drawback doesn't matter. And Trine Shrike is such a good attacker. And white can give universal bonuses easily to avoid Phyrexian Crusaders protection from white.

Put my name in, so I might be able to check out the table at some point.

I'd like if they finally finished the damn thing.  The virtual table was the single biggest item from the D&DI that I was interested in.  Everything else is just a convenience, ya know?

But there's really nothing compared to Giant Growth-ing the 1/1 infect creature that slips through.  Giant Growth + Infect = Awesomesauce.

But then again, I'm a Green mage, through and through.  I :symg: me some fatties!

And EE, I agree - it was definitely something I was looking forward to (though for me, it was the articles that my husband wanted that made me become an Insider).

Goldo - I haven't used it yet.  I just got into it (just got the email), and you have to either set up a table or join another one.  I haven't had time to set up a table (which doesn't require a pass, just access to the beta - joining games require passes), but maybe in the future I will.

You mean the VTT they promised us years ago is finally coming to fruition? 'Course, I've been waiting longer than that for leagues to come back for MTGO. I swear, the way WotC handles software you'd think they were also the ones working on Duke Nukem.

If this is what I think it is, I saw a video of it a few months back and it looked aaaaawesome. Still can't take the place of actual dice and pieces, but definitely something I wanna try out. Are you able to get invites?

Well, it's actually coming out after all? Eh. Still haven't been interested in 4E for a while, and this hasn't changed that.

Yeah, its not 3D, its 2D. Its not the one previewed at the start of 4E. Its a completely new java app that is 2D, simple and has few features. The best features are an incomplete possibly buggy import from the character builder and monster slider. It uses tokens on dungeon tile maps. It tracks your characters stats, other than those features that's about it...

I was in the original before I was even a sub.  I got in with the first batch of invites this go-round when I subbed.  I have yet to look at it.  I play FtF so it's not much use, ya know?  I was more in it for the MB (er, MSlider) and that was actually released so the Beta was a 'meh' thing.  My group hasn't played in a while, though, cuz I'm DM and just don't feel like it anymore.  Hell, I've had stuff prepped for a month and when we meet we end up BSing and watchin' stuff on Netflix anyway.  I've had this urge to play but nobody will run so I may be able to try it.  Depends on date/time, etc.  But yeah, I'm in and have been from before the DDI only phase.  Me no good beta tester.

Yeah, I can do more with Maptool and that's free. I'm not paying anything for a VTT, especially not a monthly fee, unless they can really impress me.

I am also a really bad beta tester.  I checked out the interface, which looks ok and relatively easy to figure out, but the DM does have to do a lot of work to run a game.

I much prefer playing DnD with real people anyways, but it might be fun to use on a blue moon with friends who have moved away.

Does it at least let you use a webcam to see your players? How do you talk with your players?

I do not think it has webcam capability, although it may be added.  I guess you could set up something on your own too.

It has live chat, audio, die rolling, pointing, moving, action selecting etc..  Everyone shares the same game surface, but the various players and dm have different displays.

Well that sucks. Why would you want to pay a monthly fee for that?

You'd want to pay for it for OCB and OMB integration...

I don't know what either of those two are, but it still doesn't seem worth it to pay a monthly fee for this.

I can't think of a single thing that would get me to pay WotC a monthly fee. For that matter, I can't think of any combination of things that would get me to pay WotC a monthly fee.

The character and monster builder respectively. I don't really see what that has to do with anything either...

Does the VTT enforce the 4e rules automatically? I'm assuming it's tailored to 4e but I do hope it has excellent support for house rules?

I haven't gotten into the Beta and I'm probably not available for any OTT campaigns anyway, though.

Naw. I use the offline CB (not only does it work better and thanks to community efforts now supports houserules and 3pp material, but I don't need to pay a monthly fee) and Masterplan takes care of all my monster building needs.

Besides, I don't need that stuff integrated into a VTT. There's only a few basic functions I need a VTT for and rules adjudication is not one of those.

No. From what I've read the VT is edition neutral. Everything as to be done manually but I think some macros can be created.

This way they won't have to build another VT from scratch when 5th comes out. Rejoyce!

Its about edition neutral as their adventures. The fluff can be re-used but you gotta restat the monsters.

Its set up where you have to use 4e or you won't be using many of the built in character sheet and monster sheet features, plus you lose the import from OCB and OMB if you use a different system. Where at that point your better off with one of the free VTs...
