So why

did the UFC think it was a good idea to pit Stephan Bonnar against Anderson Silva?  Like, do they want a death or something?  I think Silva's just gonna spend the whole fight clowning Bonnar anyway.  I can't see Silva respecting him at all.

As much as I like Bonnar, he will get his ass kicked.
End of story.

Because both of the 153 co-main events got canceled due to injuries. They needed a fight that woul make people want to watch. You know even if Silva murders Bonnar in the first round, you still want to see it happen.
There is an old Married with Children episode where Al Bundy is making a comercial, and he gets in the ring with Sugar Ray Leonard. Al says he is excited because as an amateur, he always wanted to see how well he would o against a professional. Leonard says he is excited because all professionals want to see how badly they can injure amateur. Viewers also want to see that. You know you want to see Silva turn Bonnar into a bloody pile of broken bones and flesh.

The best part is that Bonnar is game. The guy is just going to walk straight into Silva's punches and kicks. It'll be like watching Silva take on an animated punching bag.

Oh yeah, Bonnar will be a man about it - unlike a certain other TUF 1 contract winner.  ;)  Thing is, it's gonna be pathetic.  Unless Silva James Irwins Bonnar, it'll be terrible.  I can't see why he'd even take this with how picky he's been lately.  Who the hell is Bonnar?  Nobody.  Doin' Dana a solid can't be the goal either cuz it doesn't matter what Silva does since he's, you know, Anderson Silva.  It just doesn't make sense and I really don't think it'll be good.  I would not be surprised to see Silva/Cote II.

Yeah, Forrest was a little girl about it. Dana should really give Forrest the option of fighting a wild lion or Overeem while the Reem is still on his cycle.

I don't know, you may be surprised. Look at the Bonar VS Jones fight. How many highlight reel moments were pulled out of that fight? And remember, that was an early, unexpirienced Jones in that fight. Now imagine what Silva at this stage in his fight game will get out of that fight. The best part is that Bonnar isn't going to go down and stay down. That guy is going down often, but he will get back up and get cracked again and again.

Sonnen pointed out that Silva recently bought a $2,000,000.00 home in the U.S. I think it's somewhere in Cali. Silva may have just realized it's a lot more expensive to live here than to live in Brazil. He needs the money. I mean, he must because he has been jumping at any chance to fight.

Yeah, it's on PPV. It's UFC 153, on October 13th. I plan on seeing it at a bar.

Meh, I just don't see Silva taking it seriously.  I see him clownin' around like he did with Cote and Maia.  Bonnar can take a beating, sure.  I just wonder if Silva will be in the mood to administer one.

He also said he was done fighting for a year after his last fight.  Meh, maybe he does need the cash, I dunno.

I tried to get my buddy's mom's bar to pick up the UFC PPVs.  It's like ridonkulously expensive, though.  Like, they don't pay the $50 or whatever it is and then show it, it's like a per seat price and that bar is huge.

That's just uncalled for. You may as well just tie him up and let a tank roll over him. It would be less grusome to watch than a Forest VS Cyborg fight. Also, Forrest would come out in better shape after the tank rolled over him.

Well, to be honest, I don't think Silva took the fight with Forrest seriously either, and Silva administered a highlight reel worthy beating. I'm sure Silva is going to showcase his defensive movement ability like he did in the Forest fight and keep his hands down while Bonnar makes a futile attempt at trying to hit Silva. I see Silva having his hands on his hips, standing flat footed and telling Bonnar to hit him right before Silva knocks Bonnar down, again.
He also said he was done fighting for a year after his last fight.  Meh, maybe he does need the cash, I dunno.

I think he does. And remember, a lot of Silva's money comes from actual work, not investments. Imagine that tax bill. The guy needs the work.

Heh... that sucks for your buddy's mom. I go to this bar that has maybe 20 seats inside. They put out tables and chairs outside during PPV events. I'm guessing they only pay for the indoor seats since technicaly the outside area isn't theirs but the shopping center's and it's shared with a Dunkin Doughnuts.

It really wasn't highlight reel worthy, though - but that's not really so much Silva's fault as Forrest's.  Forrest quit.  The shot that put him down the last time wouldn't have put me down.  I think Silva's antics got into his head way, way too much.  But it really isn't all that great to watch.  Bonnar won't puss out, though.

I think he does. And remember, a lot of Silva's money comes from actual work, not investments. Imagine that tax bill. The guy needs the work.

Yeah, and he has to pay Segal to teach him all that cutting edge stuff like the front kick.

Can't argue with that.

Well, yeah, not highlight reel worthy in that it wasn't a display of high level striking. It's highlight reel worthy in that it showed someone getting beat down. Kind of like watch a Kimbo Slice youtube video where he fights these street thugs that have no obvious fighting ability and are nowhere near the shape he is in.
The shot that put him down the last time wouldn't have put me down.

Well look at the internet tough guy over here!
I think Silva's antics got into his head way, way too much.  But it really isn't all that great to watch.  Bonnar won't puss out, though.

And that is exactly why it is going to be a fun fight to watch. Bonnar may not be the most talented. He may not have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but that guy it like a punching bag that got a pair or Energizer Batteries put in; he's just to keep moving forward nd trying until either he gets knocked out, the ref stops the fight, his corner throws in the towel, or the match ends.

Meh, I don't know the people who own the bar so it's not much of a concern. Their food is okay, their beer selection is meh, but it's fairly easy to get a seat there. I always have the option of going to one of the other hundred barsrestaurants in the area showing the fight.

Meh, I'm just not interested in seein' Silva clown some new vastly inferior opponent.  Been there, seen that.

You know it's true, though.  He barely hit him the last time he 'knocked Forrest down'.

Yeah, it'll be better than Forrest but it'll still probably suck.  It's like watchin' some D1 powerhouse give up a quick 7 to a plucky FBS team ... only to beat them down for the next three and a half quarters ending up with a final score of 63-10 or something equally stupid.  At some point it just gets ridiculous.

I'm betting that is one expensive bill.

Well yeah, gettin The Master to invent a whole new move for you shouldn't be cheap.

Are there any opponents left for Silva who aren't vastly inferior? Really, who is left in his division? Weidman The guy is alright, but he isn't in Silva's leage. He threw one luck elbow in his last fight and people are already saying he is the next great challenger. It's the same thing that happened with Cote.
You know it's true, though.  He barely hit him the last time he 'knocked Forrest down'.

If you were willing to get punched by Silva in the face, I would pay for you and your family to fly out to Vegas, and pay Silva to hit you.

Some times watching ridiculous things can be very entertaining. You now that if Dana White actually set up a Silva VS Diaz fight, it would be just as ridiculous, but you would be the first in line just to watch it.

He needs to move up ... just not to Bonnar.  Evans would be good.  There's fights to be made that are better.  Not a lot, but they're there.

I didn't say a punch, I said that love tap he 'tagged' Forrest with that 'put him down'.  dood, it was about as potent as an infant's slap.  It just happened to hit 'got fight' on his quit button.

I can't believe I'm gonna say this but ... I think Diaz would stand a better chance against Silva than Bonnar.  Cuz, you know, Diaz can acutally fight.  Wow.  Thanks for makin' me do that.

Yup.  Nasty folks.  Wonder what they're gonna do about TUF being basically totally ignored now.  Guess the new season is out and it pulled its worst numbers ever.  I didn't even know it was on.  'Course them makin' the UFC put it on on Friday night is just stupid but bad ratings is bad ratings.

Well yeah, there are fights at other weight classes that would be interesting for Silva to take. A fight against Evans would be awesome. I think Evans would win that one. He is a great wrestler, which is Silva's kryptonite, and he, unlike Sonnen, won't be caught by surprise with a submission.

But you know that Silva isn't going to be taking on top 10 guys at light heavyweight. He wants to keep his winning streak going. So we are going to get these Silva VS chumps.

Possibly, but I wouldn't be too sure. Bonnar isn't going to drop his hands, put out his chin and invite SIlva to hit him. With all the BS DIaz talks, Silva would seriously clown him during the fight.

Yeah, it was terrible. I ended up going out late of Friday, so while I was still at home, I stumbled on the new season of TUF. It was pretty lame. I'm curious why they would put it on on a Friday night? That's just a sure way to lose money on it.

And that's lame.  He's the king of 185 - possibly the GOAT.  He and the UFC both need to quit playin' around - including this GSP stuff.  Get him to 205, give him a #1 contender's bout immediately (since JJ has laid waste to the division anyway) and then let him at Jones.

Come on, just one punch. Or how about on kick?

I can't see Diaz tryin' to punk Silva.  He actually respects Silva's ability.  Maybe if Silva played with him too much, though.

That would be an entertaining fight.

I wonder who would win?  I'd have to go with Overroid, though.  Just too big, too powerful.  And too jacked up.

I couldn't believe it when they announced it was moved to Fridays.  Like, they forgot who their target demo is or something (males 18 to 35 or something).  Umm, doods?  Men that age are usually out and about - not at home in front of the TV.  I mean, you could DVR it but who has the time for all that?

Yeah, there really isn't anyone left for Jones to beat. Sonnen, maybe? I mean he just got into the division, but he is pretty much the only guy worth anything. All the other top contenders at 205 have been humiliated by Jones. The only one that managed to survive a fight with Jones was Evans. All the other ex-champs were humiliated. Shogun was basically destroyed. Machida was left on the floor looking retarded. Rampage got choked out, and had he not tapped, he would have ended up like Machida. Then there are all the others he beat on his way to the championship.

I'd like to see the Sonnen fight just to see Sonnen get out-wrestled and choked out. Other than that, there really isn't any other fight at 205 for Jones.

Sure, you can pick where you get hit. Wher ewould you take a Silva punch? How about a Silva kick?
I can't see Diaz tryin' to punk Silva.  He actually respects Silva's ability.  Maybe if Silva played with him too much, though.

He also had "respect" for BJ Penn, and look at what happened in that fight. Actually, didn't they start at the weigh-ins with Diaz getting in Penn's face and saying something to him? Diaz has no respect for other fighters. He would do the same thing to Silva at the weigh-ins, except Silva may just knock him out right there.
I wonder who would win?  I'd have to go with Overroid, though.  Just too big, too powerful.  And too jacked up.

At heavyweight? Yeah, definitely the Reem. At lower weights? I'd go with Silva. Overeem doesn't have the best record at lower weights.

Awesome.  I will take a punch or a kick ... underwater.  ;)

I think Silva would actually intimidate Diaz into acting like a professional fighter in the cage.  Screw up and make BJ Penn angry?  Oh noes!  Screw up and make Silva angry?  Ut ohs!

At heavyweight? Yeah, definitely the Reem. At lower weights? I'd go with Silva. Overeem doesn't have the best record at lower weights.

dood, it'd have to be at HW.  There's no way Reem's head could make weight at 205 these days.

That's Fox for you. They don't seem to care about their younger audience.

Part of it is that they like to focus on movies during the week and until Thursday.  Thursday they run shows that target the same demo.  The only room in the lineup they had was Friday.  But it's still stupid to knowingly set up a show to fail.

Yeah, Jones/Sonnen wouldn't be bad.  At least it'd be new, ya know?

Pretty much. Silva seriously needs to forget the GSP fight. It wouldn't be very exciting. As good of a striker as Silva is, we already know how easily wrestlers take him down and keep him down. GSP would grind out another win, and people would complain he didn't stand toe-to-toe with Silva.
What needs to happen is Dana needs to get a Silva VS Jones fight going. That would be an exciting fight.
Awesome.  I will take a punch or a kick ... underwater.  ;)

Very weel, Silve will kick your testicles underwater. I'm betting it'll still leaving you gasping for breadth... underwater.
I think Silva would actually intimidate Diaz into acting like a professional fighter in the cage.  Screw up and make BJ Penn angry?  Oh noes!  Screw up and make Silva angry?  Ut ohs!

Nah... Diaz is too stupid to know when he is in danger. He would continue to act like the same idiot he always acts like.
dood, it'd have to be at HW.  There's no way Reem's head could make weight at 205 these days.

True. It seems Silva would be in for a mauling. I don't think he'd be able to gain enough muscle weight to match Overeem. And if Silva gained enough weight to fight Overeem, I'm not sure he would be able to carry it around and have the same level of cardio he currently has. I mean, sure, he would eventually acclimate to the weight increase and all, but it would take way too long for him. He may be 40 by then.

Face it, Fox caters to old people. Think about it. Who has time to watch movies during the week? Are you going to be staying up late to watch some movie? Those toilets aren't going to clean themselves. TUF would be a good show to have during the week.

I still think Silva's too big for GSP.  If GSP can get him down, though, it's over.  I just don't know tha the could.  Thing is, even if it turns out to be some super exciting fight, so what?  What's next?  A rematch?  Either way, one huge star is tarnished.  Put Silva at 205 and get him in the mix.  I think that's the best strategy.  Plus GSP's been out so long he's got real work to do at 170.

Very weel, Silve will kick your testicles underwater. I'm betting it'll still leaving you gasping for breadth... underwater.

No problemo, brah.  I'll be wearin a cup.    You gotta admit that underwater thing was pure smartitude of the highest smartyness.  ;)

Nah... Diaz is too stupid to know when he is in danger. He would continue to act like the same idiot he always acts like.

That's where Silva would come in.  If Silva clowns him, yeah he'll lose it.  If Silva presses, though, he wouldn't have time to act like an idiot.

He could always work with Reem's training staff (the famed 'Injecto' brothers) to bulk up in a hurry.

Face it, Fox caters to old people. Think about it. Who has time to watch movies during the week? Are you going to be staying up late to watch some movie? Those toilets aren't going to clean themselves. TUF would be a good show to have during the week.

I just don't see shows like Always Sunny, Archer, Louie, Wilfred and Anger Management (though it's close) as old people shows.  But yeah, TUF needs to go back to a weekday.

Pretty much. There are actually some pretty good fights to be had for GSP at 170. It's stupid to have him fight Silva, possibly lose, and go back to being champion at 170. He should take on the 170 challenegers. Silva should be taking on Jones or other 205 fighters.
No problemo, brah.  I'll be wearin a cup.

Very well. You can wear Cyborg's used cup... on your face.
You gotta admit that underwater thing was pure smartitude of the highest smartyness.  ;)

Oh, I don't know about that. I think Diaz would pull the same BS at the weigh-ins with Silva as he pulled with Penn. Also, remember that Silva likes to take the first minute or so during a fight to feel the other guy out. I'm betting Diaz would drop his hands and tell Silva "don't be scared, homie," right before Silva cracked him in the face with a punch.

Gaining the weight isn't the problem. It's working with it. It'll take him a while to get his cardio up to that level.

Isn't Always Sunny o Comedy Central? TUF is now on FX. In any case, they hould be able to put TUF somewhere in the week.

Yupyup.  We should call Dana and take over Joe Silva's job.

Certainly possible.  I just don't think Diaz is that stupid - and yes, I know how insane that sounds.

I'm sure there's an injection app for that.

Sunny's an FX property.  They synidicated some to CC, though, so that's why you see it there so much.  But yeah, put TUF on Wednesday or something.

We should. I think we'd do a much better job at putting fights together. Just in case it happens, I call Arianny and Brittney Palmer!

I hear is you take one sniff, because of all the test she has, you instantaneously sprout back hair like a freaking Russian bear!

I willing to put money on Diaz's stupidity, are you?
I'm sure there's an injection app for that.

Penn should probably get his hands on that app. He definitely needs the cardio boost. He could have been a much more effective fighter, and won a lot more fights, if he had any cardio.

Interesting. So it's just the Fox execs that are killing TUF.

Wonder if it jacks up your face like hers or if that was just natural.

Usually, yes.  I just think he would take a Silva fight differently.  Maybe.

Yep.  That would have worked a lot better than his 'do awesome, get tired, quit' plan.

Sure seems like it.

Well then, I've recently come into possesion of a bridge. It's located in this little place called Brooklyn, or something. How would you like to own it?
Yep.  That would have worked a lot better than his 'do awesome, get tired, quit' plan.

Yup. I think he would have done a lot better against Diaz if he had any amount of cardio. I think Penn won that first round. He had much better striking than Diaz in that first round. Unfortunately for Penn there were more than one round in that fight.

I'm tellin' ya, man.  Diaz hasn't fought anyone that can smash him like Silva could.  He'd take it more seriouslier.  'Course he'll probably also be high so who really knows.

Never understood Penn.  Just crusin' on talent only works when there's a real talent gap.  Then it takes work.  The older you get, the harder the work is.  It's like he doesn't understand that he got old.  It happens.  Oh well, he's done.  Er, no.  Isn't he fighting someone soon?

I mean, he has to already be pretty toasted. Didn't you see how he tried to call out Silva? WEll, his Cesar Gracie did it for him, but it's probably because Diaz couldn't figure out how to work a keyboard at the time.

Yeah, they guy thought he could get away with just being talented then he came up against people like GSP, who are not only talented, but extremely dedicated.
Penn is supposed to be fighting Rory McDonald when McDonald heals up. I don't think Penn is going to enjoy it. I mean, look at how easily McDonal handled Nate Diaz. McDonald only has one oss on his record, and it is to Carlos Condit.

This is true.  Maybe you oughtta buy her a pair of stilletto heels.  You know, for when she kicks you in the 'face'.

Well yeah, Cyborg is know for having the biggest pair in all of sports.

Yeah, real huge.  So huge she called out the champ while still suspended and demanded the champ (who's actually a woman) move up in weight to face her.  Real tough 'chick'.

He's perpetually high.  Which makes his cardio all the more unbelievable.  Triathalons, dood.  The guy's got serious stamina.  He's another one like Penn but in a different way.  Like, why ruin your career with weed?  Smoke all you want after you're done.

Yup.  GSP is one of the rare guys who was able to recognize a deficiency, take that seriously and then work to fix it and, in the process, turn it into his strength.  Hard work.  No quit in the guy.  I think he's boring to watch pretty much all the time now but he seems like a good dood who does things the right way.  And he wins.

Hmm.  Not lookin' good for BJ, heh.

Maybe he is just so high he doesn't realize he should stop running? I think he's too stupid to quit.
If he did stop all that smoking and started training in the various aspects of MMA, he would be a lot better. He did great in strike force because they have sub-par competitions. Condit just showed that Nick only has one game plan and is unable to adjust. If Diaz actually gets a shot at GSP, GSP is going to out-game him easily. Not to mention that the Diaz brothers do terrible against wrestlers. GSP would take Diaz down and not take "no' for an answer, By the end of that fight, Diaz is going to be pregnant.

Yeah, his fights can get a bit boring, but you also have to give credit to his opponents. It's not like he is constantly getting chumps thrown at him.

It's certainly possible.  He just sorta spaces out for 20 or so miles.

Yeah, GSP would kill him.  It'd probably be boring but it'd be all GSP all the time.  The Diaz brothers can't seem to get up when a wrestler is holdin' 'em down.  And GSP ain't easy to sub.

Well ... Dan Hardy ... but mostly he faces top tier guys.  GSP is definitely no can smasher and he doesn't duck anyone.  He really is a great fighter who destroys top quality competition regularly.  He just does it so boring!

Did you check out round three? Rory slams Nate three times.

She woke up in the middle of the night and after eating an entire high school football team, she was still hungry for a light snakck?
It's certainly possible.  He just sorta spaces out for 20 or so miles.

I get the feeling he is always spaced out. Haven't you ever seen him get interviewed? I don't even think he realizes he is an MMA fighter.
Yeah, GSP would kill him.  It'd probably be boring but it'd be all GSP all the time.  The Diaz brothers can't seem to get up when a wrestler is holdin' 'em down.  And GSP ain't easy to sub.

Yeah, GSP has only been subbed once, against Matt Hughes. Even in that fight, Matt Hughes, who is a hell of a wrestler, had some trouble handling GSP. And that was early in GSP's fight career.
That's the thing with the Diaz brothers. They have this terrible idea that their boxing and Gracie BJJ is anough to win. They don't work on their glaring weaknesses. They both think that they are the best boxers in their divisions, and while that is a possibility, it does not make them the best strikers by far. Neither of them can throw a decent kick. And the truth is their boxing only looks good against lesser guys in MMA who don't train exclusively in boxing. Hell, Rory McDonald no only outwretled Nate Diaz, he also outstruck him. And Carlos Condit left Nick Diaz looking like he was repeatedly teabagged by Cyborg.
Well ... Dan Hardy ... but mostly he faces top tier guys.  GSP is definitely no can smasher and he doesn't duck anyone.  He really is a great fighter who destroys top quality competition regularly.  He just does it so boring!

Well yeah, but they had really run out of contenders when they fed Hardy to GSP. Fortunately that doesn't happen often. Silva on the other hand has really run out of people to fight. And lets not even get into Jones. That division has to recycle the same people. I keep hearing that Glover Texiera is supposed to be the next big thing. They need to have him fight top guys. I don't know why they want him to fight Rampage. Everyone knows Rampage isn't really motivated to fight anymore. He does it for the paycheck. He needs to retire and move on to something else.
Yeah, that was the best part.    I'm pretty sure I caught that fight live.  It was a prelim, wasn't it?

Yes, it was. I think it was actually on the GSP rapes Shields undercard. I went to a bar to see the GSP fight and the McDonald VS Diaz fight started. I was telling my friends, I hope that Diaz loses, but I'm betting he is going to win. Diaz is pretty good. Then I saw Diaz getting outstruck and outwrestled. Then McDonald decides to rag-doll Diaz. It was great!

CBT FTW, amirite?    Oh, and

She woke up in the middle of the night and after eating an entire high school football team, she was still hungry for a light snakck?

I think it's jealousy.  She wants to destroy that which she once was (a woman, get it? ).  Though there's no way in hell she ever looked as good as RR.

I get the feeling he is always spaced out. Haven't you ever seen him get interviewed? I don't even think he realizes he is an MMA fighter.

Yeah, he's a head case.  Weed really isn't all that bad for ya compared to a lot of things (booze included) but dood, if that's all you do?  Every day?  For most of your life?  Yeah, drinkin' too much water can mess up your day pretty bad, too, know what I mean?

GSP admitted to being startstruck at the time.  He's way, way beyond that stuff now.  He's probably the most comfortable fighter aside from maybe Silva that's on the roster.

Yeah, the bros still think it's a one or two style game.  It isn't.  There's a reason that a lot of schools teach 'MMA' now instead of boxing and BJJ and whatever else.  The stuff has to be integrated and you have to know how to wrestle.  Period.  Cuz it's really easy to teach a wrestler how to avoid subs.  It's really hard to teach somebody how to wrestle, though.  So yeah. BJJ and boxing isn't enough.  It used to be one of the best combos back in the day - that and BJJ/Muay Thai.

Damn, them's some huge balls to have in your eyes.

Well yeah, but they had really run out of contenders when they fed Hardy to GSP. Fortunately that doesn't happen often. Silva on the other hand has really run out of people to fight. If anything GSP's injury allowed the division to grow some fighters who can keep GSP busy for a while.  Otherwise he'd be right where Silva and Jones are.

I can understand trying to ease a rising star into the mix but yeah, they need to up the pace with some of these guys.  Crap like Silva/Bonnar will only work for so long, ya know?

Yes, it was. I think it was actually on the GSP rapes Shields undercard. I went to a bar to see the GSP fight and the McDonald VS Diaz fight started. That sounds like we are all in imminent danger. Eventually she'll roid into something that isn't human. By the look of her face, it won't be too long.
Yeah, he's a head case.  Weed really isn't all that bad for ya compared to a lot of things (booze included) but dood, if that's all you do?  Every day?  For most of your life?  Yeah, drinkin' too much water can mess up your day pretty bad, too, know what I mean?

Yup. It's probably why he didn't show up o the Jitsu match he had after he got suspended. That, and he knew he was going to lose.
GSP admitted to being startstruck at the time.  He's way, way beyond that stuff now.  He's probably the most comfortable fighter aside from maybe Silva that's on the roster.

That is true. He also said he overlooked Serra when they fought. He learned from that as well. I read in an article that he know considers every single opponent as the most dangerous and preps accordingly.
So yeah. Yup, back when the UFC first started, having two styles made you gret. Look at Vitor Belfort. He was a boxing/BJJ guy. He did great then Randy tied him up, slowed him down, wore him out, and took his belt.
If anything GSP's injury allowed the division to grow some fighters who can keep GSP busy for a while.  Otherwise he'd be right where Silva and Jones are.

That's true. Maybe one of them will get hurt. It seems everyone has been getting hurt in the UFC lately.
I can understand trying to ease a rising star into the mix but yeah, they need to up the pace with some of these guys.  Crap like Silva/Bonnar will only work for so long, ya know?

Exactly. And since so many people are claiming that Teixera is so amazing, he should be fighting either Shogun or Machida and if he wins, Jones.
I thought Nate was gonna win, too.  dood's no joke.  But yeah, wrestlin'.  Learn it or lose, nubs.

Yeah, that was the first McDonald fight I had seen. I wish I had known about him before. The guy is a beast.
