Man, if you ever watched or played soccer, you'd know that the one goal he scored probably was the only one of the game.
Maybe his only one this season....

Give the man a break, it's like winning at the lottery for him.

"Football is for the living", not for half-sentient couch potatoes that need a goal every two minutes and a commercial break not to fall asleep while watching heavy guys passing an oblong object to each other using their hands and pretending it has anything to do with feet or balls

dood, soccer is seriously boring.  Nothing happens.  People who can't even control where the ball goes struggle for hours on a way too big for the game field to accidentally get the ball into the net.  It's terrible.  Fact.

I do not know, those lazy soccer players only play non-stop 90 minutes and do not display any tenacity or endurance.  Watching baseball players wallowing on the field is much more exciting.

There's more action in 5 minutes of Star Trek than 90 minutes of soccer.
At least, Star Trek has some credible acting, and we expect the story to be rigged.

Make the field half its actual size, put on even bigger goal cages, pay some guys that can shoot straight, and we might have something.
Or, at the very least, give them a stick so they can beat on each other.

I'm pretty sure more people have seen Two Girls, 1 Cup.  I'm quite positive that more people have been entertained by 2G1C.  And the two most watched single sporting events in the world are the Super Bowl and Indianapolis 500.

Yeah, yeah.  And we'll also have to stop brushing our teeth and eating food with any flavor, too.  The price just isn't worth it.  Oh, and not tipping waitresses and the like?  Totally classy, ace.

City 1-1 Arsenal (City win 3-2 on penalties)

You're right.  They don't adequately describe the futile attempts at controlling the ball and the melodramatic flopping.  Can't see that in a score alone.  ;)

I'm going to have to disagree on that. There is more action in five minutes of soccer than in five minutes of basseball. The only two guys that do anything in baseball are the pitcher and the catcher. They just thrw a ball to each other. It's like watching a telivised game of catch.
That being said, watching soccer isn't very exiciting either. So you wanting to watch one boring sport over another boring sport makes no sense. You may as well stab yourself in the face and then say you did it because it's better than stabbing yourself in the face.

The biggest difference between Football and Soccer? Football requires skill. You guys saw Flacco scramble and make successful throws without any real offensive line to speak of? Yeah, skill. Soccer. "Oh, hey, maybe, just maybe, I should try to kick the ball at the goal. Naw, that's crazy talk."

Baseball also requires skill. And statistics. It's exciting, and it's fun to watch. Soccer is for sissies who can't stand real action. Like, seriously, the only sport in Britain that's worth talking about is Rugby.

C'mon man, all these sports require skill, including soccer.  Getting the ball into the back of the net is a difficult task.  There is great action in soccer, like any sport an appreciation only forms if you are fan or a participant.  Soccer is actually quite physical akin to basketball.

i like American football and rugby.  Rugby is the most core in my estimation.  One of the best things about soccer as far as i am concerned is it never stops.  No commercial breaks, no time outs and no challenges.

In conclusion, baseball sucks and I cannot believe you have me referring to my favourite sport as soccer.

The stops really contribute to a game. Something could actually occur in any given play, and so you have an opportunity to get some food, take a piss, or something. You don't have to miss the game.
In conclusion, baseball sucks and I cannot believe you have me referring to my favourite sport as soccer.

In conclusion, baseball is awesome, football is better, and soccer sucks. Hard. Except, you know, not in the fun way.

Ok, perhaps basketball is a bad comparison.  I would actually say that soccer is more physical than basketball and admittedly floppier.

With soccer there is only a break after 45 minutes, and myself i can go without taking a leak or getting food for that long.  I do think that interruption of play in football has gotten worse.  Albeit time outs and challenges are part of the game, but I would rather see momentum continue.

It's like you're implying sports aren't fun to watch without commercial breaks.

And about soccer not requiring skill... If that was the case, goals would be dropping every five minutes on average. Soccer is all about outplaying your opponent and the tension of setting plans into motion.

Umm ... soccer either requires no skill at all or way too much.  Cuz nobody scores.  Like, ever.  I mean, a 0-0 (nil-nil for you limeys ) score is common.  So yeah, either everyone sucks and that's cool or the game is just too hard for anyone to play and that's cool.  Umm, with neither actually being cool, of course.

And about soccer not requiring skill... If that was the case, goals would be dropping every five minutes on average. Soccer is all about outplaying your opponent and the tension of setting plans into motion.

See above.  It's either too hard to play or the people playing it suck pretty hard.  Cuz if ya can't score ya ain't playin' well.

And what 'plans'?  Like, srsly?  They just run around and kick the ball hoping someone wearing the same ugly uniform is close enough to it.  Seriously, these guys can't control where they kick the damned thing.  They don't hit a point, they hit a region.  That's ... lame.

I'm not. I am, however, saying that the ability to go get a hotdog or coke(And seriously, the idea of not eating hotdogs at a baseball game is blasphemy, plain and simple), or even just the ability to take a piss, is a good thing. Baseball and football are superior in every other respect, too. The most impressive thing in soccer is the sissiesplayers making the Shatman look like a subtle, believable, and highly-skilled actor.

Meh, soccer doesn't need breaks for food and booze.  The whole game is a break.  I mean, srsly.  What exactly would you miss if you got up for a couple of minutes?  Nothing.  Cuz they can't control where the ball goes and it's super rare that they actually score.  At any given moment you're way, way more likely to see someone flailing their leg in vain at a ball poorly hit near them than you are to see someone handle it, drive and score.  So dood, just walk away and get a beverage.  You won't miss anything.  Hell, reading the ingredients will even be vastly more entertaining.  Counting the pretzel sticks would be more fun, too.  It's like soccer was designed to keep you away from actually watching it.

And there's no skill. It's people moving around aimlessly for a couple hours.

I am a little disappointed.  I would think any decent gay bar/soccer joke would be able to insert flopping into the punch line.

Football (soccer) players I believe exhibit more endurance than other team sports.  They usually play for minimum 90 minutes and play a lot of games  in their very long season.  Basketball is up there too, but they just do not play near the same amount of minutes, but they play a lot of games.  Football is totally different.  The season is short, but in their short stints on the field they exhibit the gstrength strength and sometimes agility.  Baseball?  Hot dog please.  Can't get a hot dog during a soccer game....you might miss the goal.

Edit: dang it...looks like CJ is gone for a bit.

I can walk around aimlessly for 90 minutes. It's not that hard. Endurance isn't difficult when you aren't actually doing much.

You just don't get it, do you? Let me put it this way: a goal in American football is like a cheeseburger from McD and apparently doesn't require anything else than outrunning/knocking over the other guys, but a goal in football (soccer) is like a fine, big dinner after a whole day of work.
Also, just because the players don't run straight for the goal (how is that skillful?), doesn't mean they kick the ball around aimlessly. Confusing your opponent is part of the game. Apparently Americans are confused too, but don't feel bad, we understand

So, no. Football is like a damn fine guy or gal, and soccer is more like an ugly stripper.

Umm, brah?  All you've done here is prove you don't know much about football.  There's layers of misdirection on any given play.  From the line to the QB's rollout to play action (or now the read option) to recever's routes ... and that's just the offense.  Srsly, football is an incredibly more complex game than soccer because its design forces it to be.  Instead of random hope for control, the ball is under control for most of the game.  That forces teams to be deceptive.  If you like finesse, football is your game - not soccer.

If sports were girls?   Football is a big girl...she might be able to dance ballet, but she could also probably beat you up.  Football (soccer) is toned and beautiful , capable of great athletic feats and headers.

Funny you should mention that.  One of the greates WR of all time took ballet lessons when he was a kid.  He credited those classes with his ability to outjump the defenders.  Who was he?
Football (soccer) is boring and ugly, capable of doing nothing but laying there.  But why would you be banging her in the first place?

Considering one of major complaints about soccer here is "not enough goals" or "low scores", this simile is hilariously inaccurate

...No. The problem is that soccer is boring and the players suck, but not in the fun way.

So unskilled and revolting? Yeah, ugly stripper seems right.

Herschel Walker?

Herschel was a running back.  And Olympic bobsledder.

Accuracy.  It's important, bro.
