With Dave Arneson's recent passing, I started reading a bit more about the Blackmoor campaign setting. Anyone have any experience with it? Thoughts for good or ill?

Blackmoor is one of my favorite settings. It has a truly classic atmosphere and is suitable for anything from dungen crawls to wilderness exploration to political intrigue and nation building.
Code Monkey Press announced that a 4E line for Blackmoor would be published this year, though it seems to have been severely delayed. Arneson's family has said that they are interested in continuing all of Dave's projects, so that is good news in this respect.

Since I'm still enjoying 3.5, the version released for that edition is the one in which I'm most interested. I'm engrossed in the 'Return to The Temple of The Frog' in your link. Have you run it?
I haven't run the Return to module, but I have used the Temple itself. Its a truly legendary RPG location and its importance to Blackmoor is much greater than just being an interesting dungeon.
If you are interested in the Temple of the Frog, I recommend getting the ZGG version of the Temple of the Frog (3.5E), which not only features the temple itself (set probably decades before "Return to..."), but also large parts of the surrounding lands.
Although, not 3E, the original version of the Temple of the Frog appears in D&D Supplement II: Blackmoor. Some people prefer the more clear and simple presentation of the Temple given there.
