I see the strengths and weaknesses of both and currently accept either). Ghostwalk has caught my attention, but before I buy again, I'd like the opinions of people who've used it: is it good? I don't yet know if I'm interested in using it as is or adapting it to 4e, but the basic fluff I've heard sounds interesting. |

The rules for ghosts are a more or less obvious attempt to translate World of Darkness concepts to D&D rules, and while they work in isolation, they don't really play nice with a mixed group. Also, I would not recommend attempting to convert it to 4e - the prominence of ghost abilities means that they'd have to be represented as a class (even a limited multiclassing like spellscars probably wouldn't do it), necessitating rebuilds (or the maintenance of two character sheets) every time a character came back to life. The 3e version is already complicated in that regard. All told, however, it is a nice book. It's a good read even if you don't use it in game. |

That's reason enough for me to buy a book. I'll have to see how it handles, but maybe I could make it work as a multiclass-only thing by limiting our expectations. Or maybe just say rather than an actual ghost, they can return in Manifest as a revenant. Problem potentially solved, if inelegantly. |

Definitely one of those books I'd rather have as pdf. (Unfortunately those have been pulled and Ghostwalk was never converted to a pdf.) I've asked about it on the piazza (see sig) but didn't get a lot of response. |

I'm still interested. I just bought it and would like to make a more conventional crystal sphere out of it...at some point. |
