#4 Bomberg Feb 06, 2009 8:34:34	I honestly don't know what to think of it. At first it seemed like PaizoHawk, allowing them to maintain there style after the D&D license has expired. Now it seems to get an identity of its own, but I still don't notice anything peculiar which makes me want to drop another game world and play there. What is really shocking me is the sheer amount of stuff the Paizo folks are publishing for Golarion; it looks so impossible to keep up with them. Also I don't see whether some of the regional sourcebooks would really suffice to play in that neck of the wood or whether one of the bigger books is necessary. So for now I avoid this world, not wanting to invest lots of time and money for a game world which ends up on my shelf collecting dust. I'd love to read a good review on Goloraion books, which is not written by a dedicated fanboy. Huldvoll Baron von Bomberg
#5 quale1 Feb 23, 2009 14:05:08	the world is very well thought out there are some GH and FR influences, but it seems that the designers are aware of the mistakes done in these past settings, excellent cultures, human and nonhuman, religions organizations are decent but would like much more I like that the planes have some influence it's worth the money, easy to keep up particularly now that wotc is in decline and hasn't got much to offer the only thing I don't like is the map, some parts are too symmetrical and boring

If you've never taken a look at the material, it's seriously inspired, and the production values have been absolutely spectacular (as evidenced by the Paizo guys' showing at last years Ennie awards).
#11 hogarth Mar 25, 2009 10:45:29	There are some things I really like, but it's a bit uneven feeling to me (e.g. some of the countries seem more like one-shot gimmicks than places where I would set a campaign, and the level of magic/technology ranges a bit too sharply from ultra-hgih to ultra-low for my taste). I'd personally tone down the atmosphere to a more medieval/Renaissance feel rather than an 18th century social feel (e.g. more peasant revolts, fewer "French Revolutions"). All you really need is the Pathfinder Campaign Setting book, IMO; the various "Chronicles" books they keep churning out are interesting, but not necessary. I'm thinking of running Rappan Athuk Reloaded somewhere in Golarion.
