I have just about everything for the planescape setting, and I'm trying to find a good adventure for a group I'll be DMing for. I'm looking for a good one shot adventure of any level that will be good for a group not well versed in planescape. I'll be converting it for 4th edition, so more focused on story and coolness then anything else. Any thoughts?

So far I'm thinking of In the Abyss or the Eternal Boundry. But I wouldn't mind one that was more focused in Sigil.

We did the first adventure in "Doors to the Unknown" as a one shot... Our group arrived in Sigil, got caught in the mob at the Temple, and did the first part with the trip to the juknyard. Just take out the parts referncing the continuing adventure (ie the Dabus writings in the junkyard) and re-flavor to just retrieving the book for Estaban (or whatever the ogre's name is). It works great. Then later, you can bring in the rest of the campaign if yer interested.

If you're looking for one-shots, take a look at Well of the Worlds and Tales from the Infinite Staircase. Both are collections of small adventures that can be run quickly, some of them within the span of one game session. They're also short enough that you can run multiple adventures depending on how long your one-shot is. If you have a longer session, I recommend Tales over Well because the adventures in Tales ultimately tie together into an overarching story, while Well is ten or so separate adventures that do not have much connection to each other. If you're working with a group of Clueless, however, the first adventure in Well of the Worlds is an excellent hook for getting Primes to the planes.

If what you're looking for is the feel and flavor of Sigil, stick with The Eternal Boundary. There are other adventures that capture Sigil and the Planescape flavor very well (Harbinger House comes to mind) but they're much longer. The Eternal Boundary is short, but not too short, could probably fit into the space of a longer one-shot adventure, and really grabs a lot of the Sigil flavor.

P.S.: The ogre mage is Estavan ;)

I'll second Eternal Boundary - although I may be biased because I'm in the middle of converting it to 4e to kick of a Planescape campaign, so I know it pretty well. But it is certainly more Sigil based than In the Abyss.

Once you really break it down, other than the final area, there aren't many encounters (and many of those can be combined into larger multi-room ones that 4e handles better).

In fact, I'm converting the entire "finding Eliath" (or however it's spelled) first half into a single skill challenge. Works nicely with a partial success leading to the faction contact chewing them out over Eliath joining another faction (as the adventure is originally written), and a full success leading to finding him there on their own (plus even picking up some more info on what's really going on or at least who to be suspicious of).

But Eternal Boundary has enough hooks for faction politics without being overwhelming, that it should work as a nice intro to the setting. But I'll try to scan over my other books to see if there are any decent Sigil adventures that work as one-shots.

Or if you are looking for Planescape adventure hooks, there's always Kytos' Hooks over at Planewalker.com.
