My idea for a planescape campaign

Ok, so I have this idea for a planescape campaign. Probably sometime in the far future, but I thought i'd share it.

Powerful undead are trying to convert the Elemental Plane of Flesh (www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p...) into an undead equivalent (think of the morticorpi all over) so that countless undead can be created and used to invade all of the material plane worlds and outer planes and etc and create a multiverse ruled by the undead.

They do this by setting up almost artifact like devices (im dungeons) on all the elemental planes and on any plane that matters to the plane of flesh that draw upon the energy of the planes and shut portals (though not permanently) and prevent planar travel. This is done to stop the plane getting what it needs for its bodily functions and weaken it for their ultimate assault. The plane of air could help oxygenate the red flow and bring air to those living within the plane, the plane of ooze and the beastlands could provide food (chemicals) for the plane in the stomach chambers, and etc. They are responsible for the Morticorpi on the various parts of the plane, and hope to spread it further, killing billions of cell blocks. The plane of fire is their base of operations. The devices can temporarily open portals to other planes (including those blocked off by the devices). The plane of fire could be their base of operations. Their ultimate assault when they deem the plane of flesh weakened enough would be to attack the hepatonexus and destroy it, stopping the red flow and killing the plane, turning it into a plane of dead flesh.

The PCs come in when the devices have only just been installed and haven't completely cut off planar travel yet. However the PCs meet, they are taken by NPCs to sigil, the one place where the devices can't effect, only the Misstress of Pain can control the portals there. The NPCs will explain that planar travel is becoming increasingly difficult (requiring spellcraft checks to use planar travel spells) and that portals are dissapearing all over the multiverse. It becomes the mission of the PCs to go through sigil portals to the affected planes and find out why. Over time, plane travelling spells will become impossible to the affected planes.

The first plane they visit will be the plane of air, going through the weekly portals that open up to get rid of the smoke. There they will find a town of helpful air genasi based on a floating rock that send town members to collect the smoke for reasons unknown. After some roleplaying the genasi will tell the PCs of a new enourmous building recently built on a rock some way away that has a very bad feeling about it, and looks like its drawing energy from the plane itself. In essence the PCs enter, fight the bad guys, get to the device, find out what it does and attempt to disable it or destroy it, with a BBEG hinting at a grander purpose before slipping away. The PCs will visit every elemental plane, and eventually learn the true purpose of what is going on, and after disabling all the devices, will go to the plane of flesh for a final battle.

What do people think?

Seems like a sound start to me. A solution you might hint at is that the plane could be made aware of the danger and defend itself, if the players can figure out a way to communicate with such an unfathomably large being.
