Hello. Not everyone feels that profs are too terribly important a thing to min max, but here it is.

Varient Human +1

Skilled feat +3

Bard +3

Sage +2

College of Lore +3

Aside from that awesomeness, they are all "any skill of your choice."  Except for Sage.

That's pretty neat!  It's also a classic case of maximizing something (in this case proficiencies).  Not sure how useful this is but it's good to know!

Sage doesn't give "any skill". It does give you Arcana and History. Any background gives 2 skills without any choice.

Half-elf skill versatility gives 2 any skills.

So 3rd level any background half-elf bard with college of lore will be proficient in 10 skills of 18 total.

And 3 of them will use Expertise. =) And all untrained skills will use half proficiensy bonus.

The worst part of this is you get jack-of-all-trades.

Which you kinda just wasted.

That said, i feel this needs to add rogue for reliable talent.

(It look like the forums reset back a few hours as i lost a few posts in some thread, including this one.)

FYI The Sage background could give "any skill" if you already had procificiency with the Arcana and History, since getting skills you are already proficient with let you choose new ones;

PHB 125 Proficiencies: If a character w ould gain the same proficiency from two different sources, he or she can choose a different proficiency o f the same kind (skill or tool) instead.

Jack-of-all-trades can be a huge deal, even with 12 skill profs. It applies on any ability check you're not proficient in, including checks that you normally can't gain proficiency in(such as checks made to counter or dispel powerful magic).

It hurts in my CharOp to get a Bard to get so many proficiencies but yes, this really is a smart assembly of classes to achieve a cool stunt.
