#3 JRutterbush Aug 08, 2014 15:54:08	Druids were the ones with the best animal companions in 3.x, and Rangers got them at a later level and they were much weaker. Pathfinder allows the Ranger to get an animal companion that equals or even outperforms a Druid's, however. In 4e, only the Ranger got an animal companion, and even then only in one of the later books. I don't know about editions before 3e, I didn't really play those.   Personally, I wish they had stuck with "minions" being a sub-system, so that you could allow the Fighter to have a cohort, the Wizard to have a familiar, and the Ranger or Druid to have an animal companion... all using the same system. Oh well... I can either wait for the module, or work on it myself. Until then... honestly, the Ranger strikes me as far more likely to have an animal companion, at least by flavor. Druids like all animals, they don't strike me as wandering around with one specific pet all the time.
