I was wondering if you guys could give me any feedback for my planned build for a Goliath Barbarian in Dnd 5e. I plan on using a homebrewed background and archetype for level 3 that I found online. I plan on replacing my Human Monk which I found quite hard to wrap around in terms of reoleplaying and wanted to use someone more chaotic and easy to share a pint of ale with. Links to the hoimebrew content are below:

Slayer Mark: Dragons

Background Feature:

Master of Evil - You posses decent working knowledge of your mark from experience and knowledge - you know their natural strengths, weaknesses and habits. People are likely to come to you with jobs to deal with a threat they believe is in your area of expertise. Sure, the occasional unique, random, or oddball may throw you for a loop, but a standard mark will rarely take you by surprise, and the indications of their presence stand out to you like a sore thumb.
Furthermore, because you are an expert on the subject, people are more likely to believe you when you make assertions about it. Being an expert, people who fear your mark are likely to feel reassured and secure in your presence, making it easier to find shelter and allies in places facing a threat from your mark.

BACK STORY

Kavaghan ‘Highshredder’ Gathakanathi was born to a nomadic tribe who operated around the cold arctic regions of the Spine of the World. The beliefs and lifestyle of the tribe revolved around the emulation of dragons, and the acquisition of their powers to enhance their talents in battle and magic. One of the practices involved the slaying of a dragon on ones birthday into manhood, like a rite of passage.

Kavaghan Gathakanathi was born the 3rd son of a prominent dragon slayer and an equally powerful dragon shamaness. He was primarily brought up in the ways of his father, learning how to better himself physically and as a warrior, taking up arms with his strength with the greataxe. Sometime later his mother died from a lethal fever, and this unfortunate turn of events forced them to move from the place of residence. They believed their tribe was beginning to suffer from the effects of having hunted down a black dragon that bordered near their mountain home.

Years later, when it came time for Kavaghan to undergo his rite of passage, his village was soon attacked by a swarm of white dragons. The tribe managed to hold their own against the swarm, and it was here where Kavaghan proved his worth to his tribe. He managed to save a group of his tribe from the wrath of the head white dragon by shredding its wings to prevent using flight, from here the dragon was crippled and was soon killed by him. It was here that the tribe deemed Kavaghan worthy and gave him the nickname Highshredder.

Kavaghan grew into becoming a prominent defender of his tribe, and continuously went on numerous hunts with his tribe. One in particular one stood out to him though. During a venture into a cave with two of his tribesmen, they discovered a secret passage that led into a dungeon. As they progressed through, they came unto a room that was archaic, ruined and desolate, except for the fact that there turned out to be a Red Dragon and its offspring drakes stalking them. After the dragon managed to kill one of them, Kavaghan and his tribesmen battled the dragon with all their strength. Kavaghan managed to break off one of the mature drake’s talons. Their efforts were so destructive that the cavern was soon collapsing, but in a surprising turn of events, the dragon grabbed Kavaghan and flew him to the edge of the mountain. When Kavaghan awoke, the dragon stood over him. But only stared at him and then flew off into the distance. Kavaghan had no idea why the red dragon spared his life, and to this day he has kept the talon he broke off from the drake as a reminder.

But the troubles were not over, as Kavaghan’s tribe managed to attract the attention of an organization opposed to the tribe’s way of life – the Cult of the Dragon. A group of travelers who passed by the village came back the next night, draped in purple robes, armed with swords, fire and a black dragon at the helm. The tribe managed to hold their own but the loss of life was devastating, having focused more on the threat of the dragon than that of the cultists.

In the end the tribe decided to move on, continuing their practice elsewhere. However Kavaghan made the decision to leave his tribe, not wanting to stick around for the latest attack, but to gain dragon emulation through his own curiosity, knowledge and skill, inspired by his encounter with the cave dwelling red dragon. So he grabbed as much steel as he could carry and went off southward, hoping that through his future ventures, he would find this mysterious cult and get even with them.

Make sure to grab a shield. If you ever run up against a creature that has immunity or resistance to your weapon attacks you can put the shield on and then run around using the help action so the casters can get advantage on their attack rolls.

Just a small cntingency plan is all, I've seen this come up a few times over the past year, a couple times as early as level 2 (One time the DM thought martials were unbalanced and decided to make all monsters resistant to all weapon damage... Yeah... Some people do weird things lol).
