#1 SirStriped Jul 07, 2015 23:49:03	Race - Halfing Class - Ranger (Hunter) level - 4 Str - 14 Dex - 18 Con - 16 Int - 10 Wis - 15 Cha - 14   Now here is my problem. Due to me being a hafling I cant use some weapons with out a penalty.   Longbow or shortbow? I feel that a Longbow is still good even with the penalty (which I think is -2?).    Right now our story takes place in a town full of mages and its focus is experimenting and testing out new ideas. So I'm trying to  get a new bow in game but due it possibly being to strong I will probably take a lot of time. Takes 1 week for just a chance to have a druid study talking to animals to get me a spell that will allow me to talk to my mouse that isnt just a 1 time use (didnt take the animal talking skill in character creation). So I spent 400 gold just to have a chance at a success. So I am curious for the time being what would be the better weapon to use.
#2 jaappleton Jul 08, 2015 4:11:38	Don't fall in love with the higher damage dice of a longbow compared to a shortbow. Accuracy is more important, if you ask me.
#3 Yunru Jul 08, 2015 4:57:57	Accuracy means consistancy. If the averages are the same, go for consistancy. Being able to do tonnes of damage is great, but if you can't do it reliably you'll end up wasting it all on a goblin and do none to the boss.
#4 jaappleton Jul 08, 2015 5:10:15	Plus, from a practical standpoint, waiting until your turn, your time to shine, only to miss on the attack... That just sucks.
#5 Coredump00 Jul 08, 2015 10:24:17	Its not just a -2, you have disadvantage, so -4 to -5 is more accurate.  You can remove the disadv (surprise, etc) but it means you can never have advantage on the attack.   It is no where near worthwhile using the longbow.
