| #1Timmy88May 09, 2015 4:17:14 | I'm playing my first monk ever, I rolled him up recently after my Gnome Bard died (It was totally his fault and he kinda had it coming as he kept getting the party into trouble). The Monk's name is Shi, he's currently a Human 3Monk. Spiritual learning wise, I'm basing his beliefs off of Taoism. Martial training wise, he is based off of Shaolin Kung Fu. I've been researching both to get a better feel on the type of character I'm playing.
During my research into the matter, I found many fictional references to Taoist, Buddhist and Sealing Talismans. Further reading into Sealing Talismans, I came up with an idea regarding my Monk. I want to cross class him with a spellcasting class and give him spells to combat undead/demons/evil in general. I was thinking Cleric (as I have a 15 in Wisdom and all my other spellcasting stats more or less suck) but I have no idea what control spells are available to the class, as I've never played a control Cleric before and I'm unsure if it is possible. I was thinking Knowledge Domain, as it fits best with the type of character I'm making. ICly, he'll be casting his spells through Sealing Talismans and I'll be treating them (fluff wise, not rules wise) as touch spells since the talisman has to actually touch skin to work. I'm trying to find spells that can paralyze, immobilize or otherwise prevent the target of the spell from doing little, if anything, during their turn.
I was wondering if anyone more knowledgeable on Clerics would be able to help me. I'm thinking about going 14Monk/6Cleric.
