Hi All,

I did a "fast thing" in how to convert the Favored Soul class to DnD 5ed. I image that a favored soul is someone chosen by the God and embued with magical powers. This descriptions fits the sorcerer. So I try to create a "Divine Origin" for the Sorcerer using the Class Features of the Favored Soul (in DnD 3.5). I hope you all like it:

Sorcerous Origins : Deity Blessed or Divine

You have been chosen by the gods in the moment that you were born. And HE blessed you with his magical powers.

- Deity Blessing (1st)
As the divine power flows through your body, it causes physical advantage. At 1st level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.
Additionally, Light Armors, Medium Armors, Shields and your patron weapon (Deity favored weapon) became Proficiencies for you.
You also change your Spell list from Sorcerer to Cleric Spell list.

- Blessed Strike (6th)
At 6th level the chosen one learns to channel his SP (Sorcery Points) in to combat inspiration bonus.
As reaction you can spend 2 SP to make an extra attack as a bonus action and all your attacks in this turn deal an extra 1d6 magic damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra damage increases to 2d6.

- Angel/Bats Wings (14th)
At 14th level, you gain the ability to sprout a pair of angel(for good deitys)/Bat (for evil Deities) wings from your back, gaining a flying speed equal to your current speed. You can create these wings as a bonus action on your turn. They last until you dismiss them as a bonus action on your turn.
You can’t manifest your wings while wearing armor unless the armor is made to accommodate them, and clothing not made to accommodate your wings might be destroyed when you manifest them.

- Avatar of the Deity (18th)

At 18th level, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.

The Original Favored Soul had a Base Attack and HD of Cleric with a Charism-Based Spell hablities. In the Class Features it has some combat bonus and some energy resistence (that were ignored) but i think it still balanced with the other Sorcerer Origins and you can offer your player (for those who likes) a chosen one or a Favored Soul Class.

Cya!

Not sure how i feel about medium armor proficiency. I might decided to keep it to light armor. Blessed strike is pretty cool. Now to the big change, spell list.

The cleric is missing a ton damage spells, not to mention his total list is a lot bigger then the sorcerers. IM also imagining twinned heals. That right there might actually make sorcerer as strong a healer as the Life domain cleric. Have you done any playtesting with this?

I willl offer it as an Sorcerer Origin in game that I will open soon. May be someone in my table likes the ideia. And I can put it in a real life test.

About the Medium armor, when i was "converting" considered not to give medium armors, but consedering the Original Favored Soul, it seens a cleric Base Attack, with all saves good, that has a d8 as HD and use same Armor and Weapons as a Cleric, with a Sorcerous-like Spell-list and Spell-know using Divine Spell list. I tried to put as close as possible to its features. The only Class Features from the original that was stripped away was the resistence to elements.

About been stronger than a Cleric of life. Well Cleric has the versatiulity at their side and many others Class Features. And the sorcerer must take heal as a spell-know I dont see a big problem in that. If you consider that a Favored Soul is someone Touched by the God, that with a focus-view (like twin heal) can be stronger than a Cleric of life. At least in my opinion...

In the end I still think about the medium armor, because it must keep the Game Balance. And Blessed Strike is a "strong" Class Feature for the 6th level.
