A friend was browsing through it, and it caught their eye as I was going to come up with a campaign where gods are heavily involved with the people of the setting, and they thought it would be perfect to play as. Do you think it will be released as an official race in a supplement or later splatbook, and if so, how close to the example as far as traits do you feel it will be? |

| #3jaappletonAug 15, 2015 7:23:51 | It's playable as it is right now. So isn't the Eladrin. In an Unearthed Arcana survey, they were among the top of "we want this race official" requests. So while they're playable now, as essentially a "good" Tiefling, they may change later on. Part of it being in the "we want this race official" may largely be due to the fact that it's not available for organized play yet, and people want that changed. |

In light of this fact - I would not expect to see aasimar released to the general public for at least a year if not longer - so as to give those with the cert a period of exclusivity.
With that being said - outside of these special certs, there has been no indication that death clerics (let alone aasimar) will ever be legal for AL play. If it does, expect it to be legal for a single story origin rather than for all story origins. |

Enjoy! |

To date, the DMG is my biggest purchasing regret of all of my 5e materials from an AL perspective, being limited in use to simp!y a magic item catalog due to anything labeled as a variant or optional rule not being allowed for AL use.
I hope that the DMG player options end up in the SCAG, as I expect that book to be included in some part in every story origin from Season 4 onwards until the setting moves away from the Sword Coast. I want a full write-up with fluff to match the crunch of the race. While having a nice set of stats appeals to the munchkin in me, I want enough fluff to actually get into the character's head and not just their body.
As for any kind of updates to the race, I think it's perfectly fine as it is. Not every race needs to have bonuses to both physical and mental stats. There are already examples of races that are pure physical (Goliath) or pure mental (Tiefling), thus there's no need to adjust the Wis/Cha boost to Aasimar. Aasimar are more about their celestial connection of spirit than of physical form. The DMG got that right by focusing on Wis/Cha. If you want a class that's more mechanically lined up with your Str-based Cleric/Paladin, there are already races that boost Str and either Wis or Cha. |
