Other than of course the Magic Initiate feat, which allows the player to cast the spell only once per long rest. How can another caster type add it to the known spell list.
For example, is there any way for a warlock to learn the Shield spell? Or a paladin?

I realize that these aren't RAW. As DM, if one of my non-wiz/sorc PCs wanted to cast Shield I'd let him/her come up with a plan to make it happen. Sounds like a great adventure hook. I'd probably make the resulting quality proportional to the effort involved.
For example, if the PC just wants to spend some gold and downtime I might either refuse it, or let him create something weak like a level 2 spell that improves AC by +3 or something. |
