Circa 2007 onwards, the "Tiers" of 3e were known. You could play a Tier 5 game, and enjoy it just fine.
... and what is JOAT ?

It seems a noticable amount of these discussions devolve into "being the right way" rather than taken for being theorycraft and "just play what you want" threads. So many folks, perhaps from video games, seem afraid of falling behind the curve or not being optimal. It's not like 12-year olds are giving you a mushroom stamp* after pwning your Bard in D&D.
*Yes, I thought Silicon Valley was awesome. |

| #15awaken_D_M_golemSep 24, 2014 13:23:38 | Ohh, oops, heh, right there in Bard 2, and in 3e and 4e. I must'a rolled a Nat 1 on my autohypnosis check.
Medicine ... could be the 1st skill dropped, for a more likely to succeed 1/2gp use of a Healing Kit (except for it's future use to ~detect poison and disease).
If a DM rules that Athletics and Acrobatic are close enough most of the time, considering the grapple defense rules, then yeah that could make Str a dump stat candidate. Maybe with all those Str saves in the MM, this might not be a good idea.
