| #1ZickZakJan 17, 2015 5:50:43 | Hello, I currently play Zen Archer in Pathfinder, Ranger/Bard in D&D4e...
I'm looking into D&D Next's classes and I'd like a help with these.
I love agile builds, lightning based. Something like a Jedi from those Star thing movies. - Lightning spells (pushing away spells) - No armor, super agile & dodgy - Gets one shotted if hit
Prefered ranged, because I think all of the above is hard to get with melees. I think I could fluff/crunch a bit the lightning spells and the armor... depends how Next combat work.
I was thinking of Warlock or Wizard and just "fluff in" the bow for Eldritch Blast or some cantrip to achieve the Zen Archer feel, but I don't know the rules a lot and I was worried the damage would fall off on later levels compared to a Ranger's Extra Attack and d8 extra damage per round; a LOT. Unsure about lock spells either.
Hope this isn't too confusing and looking forward to seeing the ideas & suggestions. Thank you!

The rest scales with Charisma and your character level. You might be able to get the rest through paladin, of all things - I'll check how feasible this is when I get home. |

The nearest thing to a bow wizard is just the Eldritch Knight.
EK can go dex for the dodge/archer build and run shield for extra dodgy. D10 hit die isn't going to let you get one shotted. However there isn't much lightning in the build (shocking grasp, thunderwave, lightning bolt).
If you're willing to fluff the lightning damage for force Warlock 2 has a great range damage pushy attack that scales. However, it uses CHA so you won't have the dodgy aspect. Pick your poison and we can help you put together a build.

| (Reply to #3)ZickZak | Thanks for the ideas. I'll look through the suggested classes tomorrow and see how they work and then I'll let you know.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Either way, if someone's looking through this thread for help, I was messing with the "Jedi" template and I don't know if it's rule-ok, but here it is.
Warlock - Pact of the Blade, Armor of Shadows (1), Repelling Blast (1), Thirsting Blade (5), Otherworldly Leap (9), Lifedrinker (12) + one more (7) (for example Agonizing Blast or One with Shadows) Monk - Wisdom to AC, Martial Arts (Extra unarmed attack, Finesse to quarterstaff)
