Arcane Gate - rotating the disks

So, I have this idea involving Arcane Gate and a pool of lava or acid.

 

Basically, I would go get the attention of some bad guys and then make an arcane gate to "get away", jumping through the gate and then rotating the portal so it's now facing a pool of lava or acid.  Anyone following me through the portal will just be jumping into the nice burning liquid pool of death and, since I am at-most 500' away, the others coming through won't be able to hear the screams of their compatriots.

 

Pros:

Easy clean-up unless you are wanting uniforms, weapons, etc.

Could get style points from the DM the first time you use it, but don't expect it to ever work again...

 

Cons:

Needs a pool of lava or acid or a really deep hole for the bad guys to drop into.

Completely fails if you drop unconscious before you can get the arcane gate spell cast.
