Barbarian / Warlock

So as far as I can tell, Damage Risistance is applied before I would loose any Hit Points, Temporary or otherwise. Correct? I also want to be sure that the Barbarian's basic Rage DR applies to magic weapons as well, since it doesn't specify. Trying to make my Armor of Agathys last longer and thought this would be a cool concept.

Just want to make sure my Adventure League character for this season is going the direction I'm thinking. I just hit 2nd level and picked up Warlock. I got Hex for now, will go Barbarian at 3rd for its sweet 2nd level abilities, then Warlock from there. Thoughts?

It works in some ways, not others.

You can neither cast spells not concentrate while raging, but non-concentration buffs or debuffs will remain active and you might be able to persuade your DM to allow spell-like special abilities such as Hurl Through Hell could be used in rage.

Still, Reckless Attack is sweet for a bladelock.

Wow berserker using hurl through hell would be sweet.

Didn't even think about not being able to concentrate on Hex while raging until after I posted this. Knew it was a little too good to be true.

Also, Hurl Through Hell is a Class Feature, no persuasion nesscicary. Spells are specific things and involve using the Cast a Spell action.

same reason i play a barbarian/paladin. Half-orc rager of Talos, the Fury of the Storm, Lighting-Death.

How bout barbarian shadow monk? Teleporting as a bonus action barbarian? Plus stunning strike? Mad as all get out though.

14 in 4 stats will get you the multiclass, but leaves a little to be desired. It works, just not super optimized at the start. I thought about a Stout Halfling Barbarian Monk that would be fun.

Some of the Warlock Invocations still work during Rage.

Obviously any of the "You can cast" ones don't.

Paladin isn't casting a spell when he dumps a slot to boost Smite.

Monk Shadow 3 is spells, but the rest isn't.

Monk Elements are mostly spells, but the 4 basics aren't.

Bard has a pile of stuff that still works, and if you've seen any live Heavy Metal, you know why.

Barb Eagle 6 is a great passive ability for scouting and Chain'Lock.

But yeah, otherwise Rage splits Casting builds in half.

Can save raging for a get-out-of-jail situation, while otherwise being artillery.

Well I got to use this last night and it did what was needed. Sadly we pummeled the guys too fast for more than one of them to hit me once. I took 1 damage, he took 5, then I chopped him in half. I hit 3rd level and took 2nd Barbarian. Maybe with advantage and my 14 AC, they'll be hitting a bit more consistently. I like the idea of him being reckless. He's so calm and collected when he's not fighting, so the flip is awesome. Total Hulk (my favorite super hero) status! With that being said, what Invocations should I take next level? I was thinking Fiendish Vigor and Devel's Sight. I can walk around with a HP buffer all the time and then cast my AoA before I think there's going to be a fight.
