Why would you ever not play a Barbarian of the bear-totem clan? Resistance to all damage except psychic seems kinda awesome to me. I haven't seen anything from the other classes that comes close to beating that for pure survivability. It basically doubles your hit points. With 20 Con and Durability feat, thats 15 hit points per level/ 30 effective with resistance.. Damn! .. Pick up the Heavy Amor Mastery at 4th lvl and you get to resist 5 dmg per hit.. Eg., Goblin hits you for 10 damage, resistance means you take half, for 5. Heavy armor reduces dmg by 5. you take no damage! LOL |

Heavy armour doesnt work with rage ibelieve, but rage resistance is extremely sweet I agree. |

| #5ppaladin123Aug 12, 2014 5:16:26 | How about a dwarf oath of devotion paladin:
immune to disease, charm, fear, possession advantage against poison, resistance against poison can cast freedom of movement to be immune to grapple/paralysis celestials, fey, fiends, undead and aberrations have disadvantage on all attacks against him
Add in shield master and mage slayer for even more effective deffenses. |
| #6melloredAug 12, 2014 5:29:32 | I perfer gnome paladins myself. |
| #7ChaosmancerAug 12, 2014 12:28:38 | Ancient oath paladins are amazing at level 18. 30 ft radius of resistance to magic for all allies. That is brutally awesome. |
| #8Danny_MontannyAug 12, 2014 14:27:14 | The heavy armor while raging only restricts the 3 things listed. Advantage on Strength checks and saves, bonus damage to Strength based attacks, and resistances. Nowhere does it say you can't rage. There's nothing that says you can't use other rage abilities while wearing heavy armor. Taking Heavily Armored at level 1 as a varient Human, then Heavy Armor Master at 4 is perfectly viable. But in his example the damage resistance would go like this: 10 - 3 from HAM = 7 / 2 = 3.5 = 3 damage taken. See PHB page 197 for Damage Resistance and Vulnerability. |
