Looking for clarification on Barbarians, Rage and Frenzy.

Turn 1:

  • Bonus Action: Activate Rage
  • Activate Frenzy as a free action
  • Attack Action:  Melee swing

Turn 2:

  • Attack Action:  Melee swing
  • Bonus Action:  Frenzy attack as bonus action to strike again

Rage fades before turn 3 because it lasts 1 minute (10 rounds at 6 seconds per round).  Gain level of exhaustion for 1 extra melee swing.  Feels like a steep price to pay for Berserker archetype.

One of my players has this set up,  I just wanted to confirm turn order so I’m interpreting it correctly before we start our next game.

Should I gift him a third turn in rage or leave as I interpret above?

I'm not quite following your logic here.  Why do you think the player's rage fades before turn 3?  Every player gets a turn during each and every round of combat.  The rage lasts 1 minute, and there are 10 six-second rounds in a minute, so the player will get 10 turns during that minute (1 turn per round).  The rage will therefore fade before turn 11 not before turn 3, unless something happens during that time which would cause the rage to end prematurely. Am I misinterpreting something you said?

Rounds are not the same thing as turns.  The barbarian rage lasts 1 minute.  Every round is 6 seconds.  The barbarian can rage for 10 of his/her own turns (10 rounds) before it fades.

My interpretation was every place in the initiative order (a turn) was 6 seconds.  But your saying every full cycle through the initiative order is a round, lasting all of 6 seconds.
