Expertise. 20th level Muscle Bard with proficiency and expertise in Athletics has +17 on his opposed ability check when attempting a shove. Without magic.
And then Peerless Skill, oh mama. |

| #7melloredAug 16, 2014 17:37:39 | Rogues can do the same.
And can drag people around more with cunning action. |

Oh, and rogues reliable talent. |

Best of both worlds: you get the benefit of Cunning Action for extra dragging with a grapple, and Expertise for a final +17 bonus to checks for pushing and grappling, and three attacks per action for a 15ft. push. You can also net Action Surge for six attacks in a round, and you can choose Battlemaster for four or more extra maneuvers per short rest, including pushing and knocking people around for free after hitting with melee attacks.
Rogue 2/Fighter X is probably the best combination overall if you want to be a knock-down, drag-out brawler. |
| #14SpedGuyAug 17, 2014 18:33:33 | Bard does give the advantage of spells; which offer several ways to boost your skill checks AND offers Enlarge person for grappling larger things (advantage on Strength doesn't hurt). The best Wrestler is probably a Fighter/Rogue with a Bard cheering him on; but just going solo the skill boosting magic might win out for the Bard. |
