Hello.

So Iv been looking at the domains of the cleric in the new players and they seem pretty nice. All depends how you want to play the game. The channel divinity aspect helps alot too, its just s shame it has so few uses even when you have the 1 hour rest.

Personaly I do like the tempest and Light builds best, but the armour on the tempest is hard to decline. Id like to hear what you think and what you would choose, both as damage dealers but also as to be able to play a good game!

Knowledge feels too "Bard, but worse", to me. Bard + Inspire is better for pulling off unproficient rolls than Knowledge's Channel Divinity.

It is interesting that most domains gives you another classs "light"

Trickery is a bit of a rogue

Nature is a bit of a druid

War is a bit of a paladin

and so forth. I think Light and Tempest are the best in terms of expanding your options followed by Trickery and War. Nature and Knowledge are fairly weak. Life is just more healing.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the Death domain, which will be in the DMG.

i like that "more healing" as far as i am reading is being considered worse then combat oriented domains. with that life domain, at levels 1-4 you are healing much more per spell then you would without it, and if your playing a cleric who is a healer and crossbow user, that matters a lot. i would say that life domain is on par with light, for the opposite reasons. light has a great devine ability and is for damage, life has a kinda crap divine ability but great for healing. war is ok but personally i would rather be a more ranged based claric, so the melee aspect of war is less appealing.

Im pretty down on the cleric. At least cleric 20levels.

Why get weapons if you only ever get 1 attack?
Probably the worst cleric tries to get a good str, con, and wisdom to the point where he has medeocre everything.
I wish they had access to a shilleleigh type spell to use wisdom to hit and damage. With only 1 attack.ever (even bards can get 2...) why waste stat points in strength? Your cantrip will quickly be pretty much the same if not better.
I hate all the cleric domains because they are so much the same. All the fighters are different. The rangers are different.
All the cleric domains are basically the same. They give you an armor and or wealon upgrade... then an awesome channel divinity like the lightning one (would be cool if clerics actually got lightning spells) or the one that lets them take a limited number of extra attacks...
I hate hate hate how clerics are forced to be awarded medium and heavy armor.. like its some blessing. Id love to see that just be an option. Heavy armor means strength. Strength means it costs you other stats. Most the other classes are viable with dex as a choice.
All clerics are essentially the same.... and very little character bonuses to healing. Im not sure why all bards get a song for healing, but clerics HAVE to take the life domain to get their bonus.
It feels like a class designed early and with no creativity.
And why would you be a druid domain or rogue domain if there are people in the party who have the class abilities, stats, and skills to pull those off? And in the case of a druid... they can pull off nature dude, polymorph, AND cast full progression.

What flavor does the cleric get? Dude in armor with a mace and 1 sad atfack with a 14 strength? Who has to drop their mace amd pick it up when they want to cast spells.or.they.have.to.spend.a.feat

Like i said.. so many classes get cool, big, impactful mechanics that makes even their subclass standout as iconic. Not the cleric.
"Hey, your playing a cleric? Sweet. The one that gets that bonus to cure light wounds? Or one of the other ones?"
Probably the same guy who designed the eldritch knight.l amd arcane trickster.
And dont get me started on strappimg a shield on and being the o ly class feat taxed to cast their spells while using their base givem weapons, while everyone else has magic shields, natural armor, encouraged to keep a hand free, or encouraged to max dex.
Play a human variamt battlemaster. Grab the healer feat at 1st level. Paint a cross on your shield. Show up to your game and roleplay a cleric.

I've been thinking of playing a spear-weilding tempest cleric named Elmêr Füdd who has the perform (opera) skill.
