| #1Darthy1980Aug 08, 2015 13:00:04 | Hi all,
I'm working on a new character, a lore bard who's going to take 2 levels in warlock for some better at will damage and other cool stuff. The dip also fits well with my background. We'll start at around level 8, so bard 6/warlock 2 probably.
Because of this dip I'm going to be a bit slower on stat increases, but I was thinking on starting variant human and grab a feat as I want to get to 20 CHA asap so not a lot of room to grab feats otherwise.
I'm a bit torn between: Moderately armored with 16 CHA, 16 Con and 14 Dex. (including +1 dex from the feat)
So basically getting 4 more AC or better at concentration.
So what's best for the lore bard?
Thanks!

| #5Ghost_GallusAug 08, 2015 17:47:06 | What is the Bard supposed to actuall be doing? Like, what is the actual character supposed to be in the group? |
| #6Darthy1980Aug 09, 2015 1:29:10 | Hi,
I would like him as an offensive caster (so I plan for example to get Fireball from level 6 additional magic secrets). I like doing damage.
That being said I like characters who can do a bit of everything, especially also help out the rest somehow. I'm currently playing a light cleric and I like being able to do damage, heal and a bit of tanking. Which in this case means just standing at the front in a door or something in case our actual tank, a Paladin, can't make it.
Therefore I was looking at a Bard, the main issue with lack of damage should be covered by 2 levels of warlock and poaching for example Fireball. Now I'm looking to round it out. Both concentration and AC are important. I do plan to get a couple of spells that require concentration, more so than my light cleric. I'm leaning towards AC as that will basically also help me keep concentration up, but I'm not sure.
This will be for a new campaign so I don'tk now what the rest will play yet though.
Thanks,

What does bug me a little bit is that I'm going to end up with an uneven stat somewhere ... the neurotic part of me has issues with that |

| #10Darthy1980Aug 10, 2015 11:39:25 | Hey,
If I were to for example go for moderately armored, then I'd use the stats: Str: 8 Dex: 13 + 1 from moderately armored = 14 Con: 15 + 1 from racial = 16 Int: 10 Wisdom: 10 Cha: 15 + 1 from racialt = 16
Dex = 14 because max +2 dex for medium armor.
With resilience Con, I'd go for 16 Dex and 14 Con (including a +1 from resilience feat)
How are you liking the bard/warlock combo ? What level are you playing it at ? I looked to multiclass 1 level into cleric but we'll only be level 8 or something, I was a bit afraid to spread myself too thin.
The berry trick sounds awesome, but I'm not sure if our DM would rule that every berry gets the bonus of Disciple of Life. Is it officially written somewhere ?
Thanks,

I hadn't considered starting as a class with con saves, that's a great idea. Thank you! I do lose 2 skills but lore bard has so many and jack of all trades it's not that big of a deal probably.
Starting as a sorcerer might be interesting as well, it also gives con saving throws and you don't lose a spellcaster level and you get a slight buff to AC (no shields though). Fighter features might be more interesting though ... food for thought
Thanks,
