| #1IxidorRSSep 09, 2014 9:52:49 | I like this feat. I was thinking of fun or good uses for it. Anyone have ideas to share?
Grappling with Warlock's Hex - Give disadvantage on checks for either Dexterity or Strength (You'll have to guess at what you think the target is weaker in if you don't know)
Melee characters for Armor of Agathys, False Life or Heroism. A bit of a HP buffer. Maybe not great after low-level.
Cleric/Monk for Druid's Shillelagh - Wisdom with staff attacks as a bonus action.
Skill Monkey for Guidance - Make the skills even slightly betterer
Just about anyone for Bless - No spellcasting requirement, and at least always gives three targets +d4 to attack rolls and saving throws
Just about anyone for Cure Wounds, Healing Word - Once a day, if weak, healing is nice.
Control melee build (Monk, Battle Master) for Entangle - Restrained's good, too bad you can't get Ensnaring Strike instead.
Plus tons of things that are just cool, like Jump, Longstrider, Comprehend Languages, Sanctuary, Sleep, Unseen Servant, Tenser's Disc, etc. |

Light is a great cantrip for those lacking Darkvision (halflings, humans, and dragonborn). It frees up a hand from a torch and can almost always be on.
Hex is a very powerful spell when used against a BBEG that you can accurately guess their attack stat. Disadvantage on all attacks without a save is pretty mean, unti it does manage to hit you can you fail your concentration check, of course.
Minor Illusion has too many uses to list. Probably best on a Rogue/Shadow Monk to cast while hidden (no V component).
Prestidigitation/Thaumaturgy is similiar to Minor Illusion in its versatility.
But my personal favorite is Find Familiar. This gives anyone an uber pet to play with that they can make disappear as an action. Too cool. |
| #6UndrhilSep 09, 2014 18:18:35 | Wait. Attacks count as ability checks now? For that matter, do saving throws count as ability checks? I thought Hex only applied disadvantage to ability checks (therefore, if you can get it on the BBEG before combat starts, you can make them have disadvantage on their initiative roll, but not much else...) |

| #9Demosthenes2054Sep 16, 2014 7:18:02 | Thirding or fourthing find familiar. I'm loving the owl. It can help allies and deliver touch spells without provoking attacks of opprotunity. Coupled with its movespeed, darkvision, and advantage on perception rolls there's a lot to love. |
| #10dwgautierSep 16, 2014 7:27:12 | Thorn Whip Cantrip would be awesome for a priest at higher level to pull people INTO their blade barriers for double effect O.o. The creature would take 6d10 on a failed save when it is PULLED into the spell and then another 6d10 at the start of its turn if it fails it save again. This combo also works with Cloud of Daggers, Wall of Fire and maybe a few other spells I missed. It takes some set up but can be really nice!
I like good berries as the first level spell as healing to get people up or out of combat. Or just to feed the group if you have a DM that keeps track of rations. |
