| #1Logain08Aug 26, 2014 9:26:28 | Hello everyone
I'm currently playing a (vengeance) paladin and having a lot of fun doing so (smiting is extremely satisfying). We're almost level 4, which is when I'll pick up GWM to really go all out and have some fun.
I'm a half-elf and my stats are:
16 strength 10 dexterity 14 constitution 10 intelligence 10 wisdom 16 charisma
I was planning on staying a paladin all the way up until level 12 and after that I would like to multiclass into a bard for the whole inspirational leader vibe and for the added utitlity the bard offers. It would also give me extra spells slots to smite with and to augment my spells with, such as cure wounds.
The only feature I am sad to miss out on in this way is cleansing touch, which seems really good on paper. I don't mind that I wouldn't have the capstone ability or the level 15 feature, which is completely dependant on oath of enmity, which you can only do once per short rest. (so with my DM maximum 2 times per day)
My reasons for stopping with paladin at level 12 are: 1) I want improved smite at level 11; and 2) I don't want to miss out on an attribute increase since paladins are already so MAD and feats are so awesome, I would like at least two (GWM and mage slayer I was thinking).
In the end, I would have a level 14 spellcaster, but only level 3 paladin spells and level 4 bard spells. I would go for the College of Lore for extra skills and magical secrets. As a paladin, the College of Valor doesn't offer anything new I could use as I see it.
I would actually like to start multiclassing earlier, but the allure of Improved Divine Smite is too powerful and I think it's useful to have it as soon as possible. Do you all think this is a viable combination? Or am I dropping some powerful abilities by not sticking to one class?
Any advice or remarks are welcome! Thanks in advance!
