| #1bonethug0108Nov 29, 2014 15:55:54 | So I had an idea for a build that focused on making the ultimate skill user instead of a super effective combat master. My goal is to give him as many skill proficiences(called SP throughout) as possible while also adding ways to better their bonuses and their use. This is what I have so far.
Choose Half-Elf as a race for 2 SP. Start at Rogue level 1 for 4 SP. Cleric(Knowledge Domain) level 1 for 2 SP. Ranger level 1 for 1 SP. Bard(College of Lore) level 3 for 4 SP. Pretty much any background for 2 SP. Bring Rogue to level 4 and take Skilled for 3 SP.
That gives you every SP in the game.
Bard level 3 gives you Expertise. Rouge level 6 gives you Expertise 2 more times. Rogue level 11 gives you Reliable Talent with every skill in the game. As a side bonus you also have Jack of All Trades that will give you half of your profiency bonus to any check that doesn't use skills(but this build does make it a lot less useful).
So that's Rogue(Thief) 11/Bard(College of Lore) 3/Cleric(Knowledge Domain) 1/Ranger 1. I have 4 more levels to add. I also have two potential feats I didn't pick yet from my Rogue levels.
There are a few different things I can do, such as taking another race(but that loses 1 SP). Variant Human would get me Skilled faster and gives me 1 SP. Elves(Any) or Half-Orcs will give me 1 SP.
I could also go Rouge1/Bard(CoL) 14(with the others staying the same) instead and that would still give me 3 Expertise and add Peerless Skill, but I lose Reliable Talent. This puts me at level 17.
Any thoughts or suggestions? |

Reliable Talent is really a sticking point for my build(while Peerless Skill is very nice, taking 10 on every skill in the game is insane and I have 1 extra level to do with as I please).
I should have also mentioned I was going to use a point buy array at 13, 13, 13, 12, 12, 12 so I would be equally effective with every skill(13s in dex, cha, and wis for the multiclassing). |

| #5YunruNov 30, 2014 10:31:55 | As said, Half-Elf Rogue 1/Warlock 2/Knowledge Cleric 1/Bard 1 gets you all but 1 (iirc) of the skills and is online by level 2. If you go 10 Str, 16 Dex, 8 Con, 12 Int, 14 Wis, 16 Cha (again iirc), you're also combat capable at all levels. |

(they've had 40 years to fix that, but hell the English spelling system is 500 to 1200 years out of date)
I'm wondering about dump stats. You could go with a 10 Con with Resilient or class proficiency. Athletics could be somewhat covered by Acrobatics, or maybe the Enhance Abilty 2 spell.
Also wondering about Tools. Cleric Knowledge 2 ability , Thieves Tools from Rogue , 2 from background , medium high levels blow your GP on training. What else?
