Slammy Davis Jr is the bodyguard/bassist/illegitimate son of Stevie Wonder. I've looked through the grappling guide backwards and forwards, but cannot figure out what my stats should be. It's for AL use, so going point buy. |

College of Lore has the best benefits but leaves you without extra attack or serviceable AC. I would start as fighter, then go lore bard...maybe fighter 6/Bard 14. Point buy could be:
STR-14 (7)+2
The number in parenthesis is the point cost. Battlemaster fighter gets you trip attack for more efficient grapple+prone action. If pure bard, stats would be same but would go Valor bard instead. You don't get cutting words that way, but get better armor and extra attack at least. |

The progression is going to be similar to the Mage Slayer build, but exchanging the Rogue levels and glass cannon status for a more generalized build and better HP. The stats that Jay posted look good, although I'll probably change Dex and Wis to 10. Since I'll be in heavy armor anyways, the only use for Dex is for initiative. Although, what would you guys think about switching the two altogether? Am I asking for trouble by even considering dumping Dex? HP Edit: Having Wis 12 would give me better Insight and Perception scores, which would play into his backstory as being a bodyguard for a caring father who couldn't publicly acknowledge his bastard son because of a career in show business. |
