| #1drizzt_zyloSep 07, 2015 13:11:27 | That is probably a confusing title see my DM is running a campaign that is kinda 2 parties 2 different and possibly opposed goals recently things have become a bit hectic for everyone for schedules and no one has expressed much interest and so the campaign has 4 ways it could go either continue campaign or continue campaign good or evil or end campaign. I'm on the good side but if we continue and we only have enough people and the majority go evil then that's what will happen however I still want to play my character and I figure I could reimagine him with different class levels. So my original character will end as a fighter battlemaster 4 paladin vengeance 11 bard 5 the idea is a support style tank extremely tough while providing a kinda blanket protection to everyone within his support range with bard inspire paladin aura/healing and fighter maneuvers was mostly what I was taking away with the side effect of getting pretty decent damage and versatile skills making an gritty commander sort. I went that same direction with my evil version and I need help my idea is paladin oathbreaker for undead improving aura wizard necro for undead improving feature and warlock for the refreshing spell slots for when I need a few new undead or smites or buff or something. Now I looked at some of the interactions with aura and sheleghligh (spelled right?) And that cha bonus to damage invocation is there anyway to combine all that or what would be the best combo for that all and still get everything I want or is there a better way to get all that? Does hex apply to the first necro feature to heal? What should I start as? My stats are 11 13 14 15 16 17 I'm fixed as dwarf subrace don't matter starting level is minimum of 5 (its still the same character just reimagined as a necro commander) thanks in advance and sorry for poor formatting or not being clear enough I am willing to elaborate or clarify if needed |
| #2drizzt_zyloSep 08, 2015 10:35:20 | Bump so is the build sound then? Does it seem like a good reimagining of the same character? |
| #3jaappletonSep 08, 2015 10:42:57 | Holy run on sentence, Batman! Dude, if nobody is expressing interest then your game is dead. Sorry to say it, but it's dead. |
| #4drizzt_zyloSep 08, 2015 11:39:02 | Well not nessarily its a roll20 game people may have just gotten to busy to post or schedule anything for about a month. We usually play monthly. The DM is now seeing who can or can't play to see if it is dead for sure or not or what can be done to keep it going either way. So regardless still wanted to see some feedback on build. And yes looking back at my original post I'm ashamed of myself. Sometimes that happens when I'm on a time crunch. Thank u for the feedback because I forgot to clarify it was an online game and some specifics about such. |

This character is going to be basically the same character with different classes but feel like mostly the same character. He is a dwarf. He is kinda a grissled drill sargent. His class levels will be, if the campaign stays good, fighter battle master with commander like maneuvers/ paladin vengeance for protective aura+healing (I know that he could have been a different oath but fit his story and didn't like tenets of other oaths)/ bard lore for inspiring+healing. His rolls are as follows 11 13 14 15 16 17 rolled by DM. Now to the backup character. The race and rolls are the same subrace is unimportant. The build I have is 8 oath breaker for the undead aura/6 fiend warlock for tome pact+ refreshing spell slots/6 necromancer for more undead goodies. Thought this felt like a more sinister commander where his will be done in life or death. My questions. Is this a good build? If not how to improve it? He is going melee since many things he has is relatively short range, so he will pick up sheleliegh (right spelling?) so he can use cha for attack and damage does that work and does it get cha twice to damage? What are some neat ideas you have for undead platoon? Where would you place the stats? What subrace? What starting class? |
| #7drizzt_zyloSep 08, 2015 13:12:59 | I hope that is better. |

| #13bidSep 08, 2015 19:57:11 | Dwarf on cha classes, that's a pain. Normally you'd want Dex/Cha at 16. But it's a fun concept.
Mountain could be 16 12 16 8 10 14 with a 2-hander. You definitely start pally since they have the same saves and push for the level 6 aura dipping once for extra smites..
Hill could be 8 14 14 10 14 15 for a dexadin/shillelagh with tome and duel fighting style. Your damage bonus is capped at +2 until warlock-3/pally-4 at best, and you want pally-5 extra attack asap. But after level 8 you are MAD-free with an odd Con for resilient. Dipping reduces level 5 damage to 80% using eldritch blast, and eldritch invocations can be fun. If you plan on medium armor and can wait that long, hill/shillelagh could work.
Battle master and lore bard would wait after level 6 unless you dip bard for the utility cantrips. I don't think dipping fighter early has any value. Shillelagh does not work without a 1 level dip in nature cleric or druid, and it's still on Wis.
By level 6, you'll have a better idea where you want to go. |
| #14drizzt_zyloSep 09, 2015 9:21:51 | Its a minimum of level 5 so I think I'll have the cha to attack and damage online for melee. When I get that cha to damage aura will it be cha to hit 1d8+cha+cha? Can I reanimate skeletons that had been animated and destroyed? If not is it worth the time or possible to inspiring leader or healer them? The DM allowed me a mobile cart forge where I have a bunch of material I've been making weapons and armor in myspare ttime so equipping my undead should be no trouble. Can I equip them with anything I want? Any particularly good invocations to combine with a skeleton hoard? I had planned on the disguise to look like one of my hoard silent image to put in some tactical tricks and the one that gives u deception proficiency for really convincing people of those illusions. If I lose control on the next day can I re exert my control later like maybe I command them into a bag of holding for later? So is my build good or could it be better? Gonna use mostly cha spells and when I don't they won't have an int component. I've never played a necromancer so is there any good advice or combos or tricks? |
| #15drizzt_zyloSep 09, 2015 9:28:59 | Oh and the battle master lore bard were on the good version of this character. Just wanted to show the original for the feel of what I wanted to do with the evil. Did I accomplish making them both feel like grizzled Sargent's in their own way? |
