| #1VladisJan 29, 2015 18:58:03 | I have a rogue multiclasssed as a warlock, for the spell invisibly (and maybe great invisibly, gimme you opinion on that) mainly, so can you help me build him and tell me where I am stupid i am level 5-3 rogue 2 warlock-and a wood elf str-11 Dex 17+2 for race bouns con 9 int 15 wis 9+1 for race bouns cha 15 I have assassin for an arcclass amd acfey my main weapom is a bow.... My plan is level warlock to 4 and get the feat weapon master and get long bow prefficiency and +1 dex and the 1 in rogue to either get +1 in con cha or duel welder feat get pact of chain and have armor of shadows.. the spells i plan to have at the end of this will be witches bolt, invisibility, and spiderclimb...thos are my must haves... I don't know if i should be more offensive (like hellish rebuke) or something else (with something like darkness) and in later level i was think to be a ranger for 2-5 levels, is that a horrible idea? |

| #3GlimjackJan 29, 2015 22:07:48 | Witch's Bolt is sub-optimal, if you're decent with a bow, use that instead. Which pact are you? Which Patron? If you're considering going warlock 4 then another level will give you an extra attack if you go Pact of the Blade. Consider the darkness spell and devil's sight for giving all your attacks advantage. Pretty sure your pact weapon can be a longbow. However, have you considered going straight Arcane Trickster? You'd get invisibility without having to multiclass or lose sneak attack? Which should offset any advantage gained from going Assassin. |
| #4Lysandre01Jan 29, 2015 23:31:56 | 1. Pact weapon is for melee weapon only. You'll have to get something else (maybe the pact of chain ?)
2. You don't need the feat for the longbow, a wood elf already has the longbow profeciency.
3. Two classes is enough, you'll have only 1 attack, so you want it to put you're sneak attack and use your cuning action to dash/hide/disengage. What you need is to get sure you're sneaky arrow won't miss... so take the Darkness Spell with the Devil's Sight invocation ! (It's way better than Invisibility).
I would go for 3warlock and verything else in rogue if I were you.
4. Get the Alert feat to get the +5 bonus in initiative at some point. |
| #5Danny_MontannyJan 30, 2015 4:21:29 | Greater Invisibility isn't until Warlock 7, which is a long way down the road. Your Warlock abilities should be chosen to augment your Assassin skills. I think 3 levels should be enough. Devil's Sight, Mask of Many Faces, and possibly Armor of Shadows. Invisibility, Spider Climb, and Darkness will be your infiltration abilities. I'd take Pact of the Tome to get more spells, along with its Invocation instead of AoS. Pact of the Blade could be useful if you do more disguise based Assassination than infiltration. He'd more than likely have a higher Wisdom than Intelligence being an Assassin. Alert feat is definitely something you want to pick up. Forget dual wielding and focus on one big hit. |

Of being Awesome!
Awesome at murder.
Which sucks.
For his enemies. |
| #8GuntharJan 30, 2015 12:07:28 | He's ugly and dresses funny.
He's also not a very good person and needs leesons in bathing.
He has the atrocious tastes of a typical suburbanite.
His mother had to wrap him in bacon just to get the dog to play with him.
That should cover the main points. I can calculate his character flaws to the nearest decimal point, if you like. |

1) Weapon master is one of the weakest feats in the game. You're better off just going fighter 1 to get proficiency if thats what you need.
2) Witch bolt + cunning action is interesting in that attacking breaks stealth, but maintaining your spell for damage does not. It's a rambo style build which I usually dissuade, especially for beginner players.
3) Darkness is another not particularly party friendly option. You can invisibility past an encounter, you can't darkness past it. Once you're in combat, darkness is the better choice for you, not always for your party.
4) Since you only have one attack I would suggest crossbow expert for when your main attack misses so you have another shot at getting sneak attack damage.
I recommend fighter 1 for proficiency and archery style, warlock 3 for pack of the chain, rogue X.
