| #2NovacatSep 13, 2014 1:43:18 | The criteria you've listed can be fulfilled by a basic Fighter/Warlock (Dueler-FiendBlade?) character, but that won't get you Sorin Markov. Planeswalkers are being of power beyond the scope of D&D. They would be gods, or perhaps demigods, in a typical D&D setting. |
| #3Andre82Sep 13, 2014 2:13:14 | I don't really want the planswalker so much as I want the basic concept and look. |
| #4DiffanSep 13, 2014 4:39:14 | I have a homebrewed Blood Knight sub-path for the Fighter that would probably fit his theme very nicely. When he kills targets, he gain Temp HP = to the creature's Hit Die (this a 4 hit die creature gives you 4 temp HP), he gets benefits to grappling foes.(and subsequently "biting them"), get a Champion feature (Survivor, I think) and can turn into a Bat or Wolf as a Druid's wild shape of equal level. EDIT: I posted it over on Candlekeep, found HERE |

-Warlocks are proficient in light armor (but you could take the invocation that grants you Mage Armor at will and not even have to wear armor) - Pact Blade Warlock will give you proficiency with Longsword. - Great Old One is the best feature across any class that reflects Sorin. The bonus spells Great Old One grants such as Dissonant Whispers, Detect Thoughts, and Dominate Person all fit Soring Markov perfectly. - Take Thirsting Blade to be on par with martials for attacks per round with your Longsword, and Lifedrinker at level 12 to add your CHA modifier to damage with it - Take Sign of Ill Omen to gain Bestow Curse - For Mystic Arcanum take these spells when you gain the appropriate level: 6th - Mass Suggestion, 7th - Finger of Death, 8th - Dominate Monster, 9th - Whatever you want
Some other builds presented in this thread will not give you the ability to cast Dominate Person. This is pretty much a required spell to have. If you cannot dominate people, sorry, you aren't playing Sorin. For spells make sure to take mostly enchantment and necromancy spells such as Charm Person, Suggestion, Ray of Enfeeblement, Vampiric Touch, etc...
If you are looking for the build that most closely represents Sorin Markov, a level 10 Blade Pact Warlock with Great Old One patron is the best you are going to get. Look no further than the level 14 Great Old One feature. |

Invocations- Thirsting Blade, Life Drinker, Devils Sight, Ascendant Step, plus 2 invocations of your choice
GOO's Create Thrall requires the victim to be incapacitated ( drained?) and is probably the best fit.
Whereas the Archfey has: Misty Teleport, AoE Charm/Fear, Dark Delerium ( a potent Charm/Fear ) plus Greater Invisibility, Sleep
Both have Dominate Person and Dominate Beast
Archfey are not necessarily all sweetness and light, some of the Unseelie could be considered more evil and more alien than a GOO. Whereas some GOO may even be considered friendly, they may even love their pets.

| #13SteeldoomSep 14, 2014 7:14:04 | While the warlock works great, I can't help but see Sorin as a necromancer first and a vampire second (I'm not a hardcore Magic Player). You can play any class and get the bite thing happing later. Playing a Wizard necromancer fits the bill nicely I think with a level or two or warlock or fighter for armour and weapon profficencies. You could even take Rogue to get double profficiency in Stealth which is very cool.
I would build straight necromancer and either: Pick up the feat Feat Lightly Armoured and Weapon Master (giving light armour and 4 weapon profficiencies) Or High Elf (giving longsword use) and both light and medium armor use feats.
Level 10 necromancers get Grim Harvest: hit points when you kill with spells Undead Thralls: better undead, more hit points and better damage Inured to undeath: resistance to necrotic damage (counter spells versus black spells, lol) and undead can't drain your hit points.
If I wanted a more fightery Sorin (lets face it, the picture is more this), then Elderitch Knight and ask the DM to tailor your spell list around this concept. |

| #15SteeldoomSep 14, 2014 16:48:30 | I'm liking 5e so far, can't wait to DM and play it more. |
| #16spanglemakerSep 14, 2014 22:52:46 | The Warlock is the easiest way, but a Necromancer Eldritch Knight would work.
Fighter 10 (Eldritch Knight), Wizard 10 (Necromancer)
But any mix really
I prefer the Warlock, but an Eldritch Warlock could be pretty interesting, Chain or Book pact with an Eldritch Sword. |
