| #1FenrirtheworldeaterApr 12, 2015 21:57:44 | Is there anyway to do it and have it be effective |
| #2transcendantviewerApr 12, 2015 22:20:41 | Off the top of my head: Conjuration Wizard/Sorcerer. Then you just Quicken all your Conjuration spells and use your action to use your free teleportation feature. It'd take a little while to get up and running, but is probably your best option. |
| #3Jordan175Apr 13, 2015 0:17:46 | Just what do you mean by "combat teleportation"? If you mean teleporting around while in combat, the spell "Misty Step" is what you probably want. There are other abilities as well- There is a wizard subclass that lets you swap places with an ally, or there is a monk subclass that lets you teleport to nearby shadows. Please try to be more descriptive in future questions. |
| #4FenrirtheworldeaterApr 13, 2015 10:16:39 | Yes I wanna be able to teleport around while in combat I'm trying to recreate Vergil fighting style from DMC which consists of speed base melee attacks and teleporting to the enemy and away to avoid damage while using magic to stun distract damage and weaken them from a distance I don't have to do a lot of damage just stay out of reach and piss off the enemy so my party can pick them off while there focus on me but never really being able to get close enough https://youtu.be/J_PsJ4ObyUU |

| #11melloredApr 13, 2015 15:14:43 | a high level wizard can get misty step at-will. |
| #12FallingIcicleApr 13, 2015 16:47:33 | Eldritch knights can teleport whenever they use their action surge, but that's their 15th level ability. |
| #13durntaurApr 14, 2015 11:10:52 | Yeah, dim-light/darkness plus Shadow Monk L6 equals at-will 60 foot teleport as a bonus action. |

Yeah the easiest quickest way to gain at will teleportation is to be a shadow monk.
You could play a favored soul which gets weapon proficiencies and can cast a lot of misty step.
Same with a bard.
Wizards can cast it at will at level.... 18..........
Fighters get arcane charge at 15 1/short rest and you need to action surge. Or 2 action surges by 17. Then you can burn your slots on misty step otherwise which isn't the WORST option because mobility helps.
Hypothetically you could do fighter 17 warlock 3 to have 2 short rest slots for misty step, giving you 4 chances to teleport a short rest. But that's a level 20 build which is almost useless. As an aside an eladrin would have 5.
Actually a fighter 15 full caster 5 would get 11 spell slots that are 2nd level or above, +1 action surge for 12 teleports. 17/3 only gives you 8 slots and 2 action surges for 10. This is so nitpicky though.
Your best bet might be going shadow monk 6 and the rest either warlock (for short rest recharging, admittedly it would take a while to get 3 slots this way so idk if that's your best bet) or some full caster for maximum misty stepping when you aren't in shadows. Also carry a bunch of umbrellas to animate objects on to make shady patches and let your DM rule they can float around. Cast darkness on your familiar to make a shade zone that can move. Maybe contingency darkness to activate on your familiar when you blow a whistle or something to have an escape route.

Vergil seems to me mostly like an eldritch knight though. Lots of attacks and stuff. I never played dmc though so grain of salt.
Just have to wait to get misty step which would take I think level 8? Maybe start as an eladrin if you wanted. You'd get white hair at least right??? |
